Our midfield is still very reliant on young, inexperienced, unproven players. It’s hard to know how we will do. Once they get some confidence, the improvement will be exponential imo, I’m just not sure how long that will take.
Dylan Sheil would have done nicely, however once again we are in the wilderness..
you are right tho Dow,OBrein,Walsh...are underdone and as we have seen will probably be expensive to put them in the AFL arena.

Expect AFL normal stats this year from Kennedy ,Fisher and Samo Petrevski Seton

Setterfield is the dark horse....i think if his knee is strong going forward he could get us normal stats from day one.....we sure could use him from round 1 even if he starts with limited time off the bench as he goes.He is lanky and quick and works around the coal face probably very nicely.

Good post till the last line. Easy target. Damn unlucky with injuries..none of which have any relationship to diet. But maybe being depressed over constant injury does. That where Russell will work. The rest will follow.

You know that it has nothing to do with diet? Seems like you're just guessing.

Anywho, it was just a joke and I didn't mean anything by it. I would like nothing more than for Jarrod to have some luck with injuries, put in the work on the track and become the player we all know he can become.

That midfield video is good. Walsh looks like a total pro who’s been in the system for five years.

The sequence of Dow to Fisher to Walsh.. so refreshing to see:

1. Handball / clearance from stoppage go to space where a guy can receive on the move vs releasing to player about to get smashed
2. Composure in closed space to determine correct option and not just hack ball forward
3. Receive on the move with pace and skill to burn

Not much talk about Dow but he looks great. He and Walsh really pushing each other and a lot of similarities. GUN

Was going to write this, barely been seen or heard about him this off-season. All the talk about other players. Going under the radar a bit and not a bad thing.

I was just told a story by an ex Port Adelaide premiership player who had glowing reviews of Russell from his time there.

He basically said the guy is just a jet who lifts expectation of everything and not just the standard on the track. They went as far as doing a "surprise inspection" at one of the share houses and checked what the boys had in the fridge. They got rid of half the food in there.

Just shows the lengths Russell goes to and I suspect one Jarrod Pickett may get one or two of these "surprise inspections" soon. :$

Brilliant :thumbsu:

Three of our biggest issues last year were

1. Getting players on the park
2. Running out games
3. Being fit enough to run both ways

I expect major improvement in those areas this year. Means a lot

I think I'm most excited for Zac Fisher this year. Really put it together last year before injury got to him. People know about Cripps, Curnow etc but whenever I have mates watch Carlton play, Zac Fisher is the one they rave about.

I think we are spoilt for choice. I remember drafting a Murphy or Gibbs and people getting excited over just one player

We have Walsh Stocker Setterfield Dow O'Brien SPS Fisher Kennedy Charlie etc which most believe at worst will be very good players
