Just here to talk football, discussion forum.
Abusing players is obviously not on, but to criticise a play?
I wasn’t specifying you Mr Plow when I made my comment. I thought my second comment was in the same vain as your original reply. Just a bit of fun.

Chips are in the middle. Massive show of faith by the supporters after a 2-win season. The added bonus is that we will probably end up with circa 50k on auto-renew, which will get millions into club coffers 6 months ahead of time.

But it's reliant on people wanting to renew into the future. 2019 is 6 years since playing finals. 2020 will be 7, and in all likelihood we will be matching the previous stretch of absence between 2002-2009.

Repeat uncompetitive year, all this work is sadly for naught. Doubt most members have the patience to put up with being uncompetitive for much longer. A repeat of last year will see the remaining confidence in the club fall off a cliff. In 2008 we had 10 wins, to progress to 7th spot the following year. We'd want to be on a similar trajectory this year.

Need to keep the momentum going, and the focus is squarely on the football department. Doomsday Scenario <4 win season; under such a scenario the club would likely be compelled to remove the senior coach, but how would our supporter base react to another failed key appointment at the club?

You tell me, Mr. cup is 100% empty.

Supporting Carlton is not about making a choice. It’s a lifetime commitment. If you think it’s a choice then you’ve got a problem.

Supporting is not a choice, indeed.

But committing hundreds of dollars, annually is not so much a foregone conclusion given cost of living pressures, and the position of where football memberships sit on the hierarchy of life.

Our current membership number and rate of growth must be celebrated. It's an outstanding achievement given the season it proceeds. But be under no illusion, season 2019 success is critical to keep the momentum going

I know you say the doomsdays scenario is a sub-4 win season, but really I think a lot of supporters would be happy if we had a 'Brisbane year'; say 4-5 wins but lifted our percentage dramatically from our paltry 2018 levels.

Wouldn't hurt to break the ton as well just to kill that repeating 'news story', they did it 5 times last year, we all know how we fared on that front.

Also hopefully suffer minimal ridiculous blowouts. They had a ~16 goal loss to the tigs, last year we had 3x 17/18 goal losses to Melbourne, GWS & Adelaide. Those are really sapping, eradicate them and it'll do wonders for supporter morale.

I reckon we start putting more scoreboard pressure on team, hopefully that happens with our midfield additions (granted their still young) and improved potency up forward now we've added McGovern & Fasolo to Charlie & Mitch. Looks better if Cuningham can continue his prac match form and hold down a hff spot this year.

The supporters don't necessarily need results, although they'd certainly help. Manage our injuries better, get as close to our best 22 on the park each week, play some attractive footy where the game plan is more clearly visible, reduce the blowouts & have a couple of high scores ourselves, see the likes of SPS, Weitering, DC, Dow, O'Brien, Fish, Cripps, Kennedy, Setters, Charlie, Harry, Mitch, Willo, Plow, Walsh, Stocker, etc all continue to improve... that will be enough o start getting the hype train going and have the members locked and loaded.

Brisbane only won 5 games but are being spruiked by some as finals smokeys. It doesn't take much to turn things around in that regard, especially when the core of the team is clearly so young and stacked with talent. After all this time cutting, rebuilding & stacking the list with young talent, all we've got to do is show the signs that we're heading up because once it's publicly acknowledged we're going in the right direction the consensus will be that when it clicks, it'll happen pretty quickly.

How about just allowing free conversation for a change?
How about seeing something slightly positive for a change

You constantly put a negative twist on everything

Go Blues !

The cut off date for receiving memberships before the first game goes kapow. I hope the club is getting a boost from this display of support regarding our prospects for success.

Can someone enlighten me what is being done.. as a member who has auto-renewal for the last number of years I really am not hearing from the club about signing up (as I'm locked in).. what are they doing to entice these missing supporters back to signing up?

And what if a so-called 'negative' opinion is also a reasonable one? We can't ignore the reality of the situation: our Club needs to be better. We need to expect better than what we got last year.

It's simple: if we stagnate they lose goodwill.

You have totally missed the point and nothing to do with reasonable 'negative' opinion.

Frankly I think your just stating the obvious here, but leaving out some very important things
1. The club has been very upfront about the journey and the patience required and has gone about the rebuild with our blessing.
2. Supporters are smart and can work it out and as a result confidence is higher than for many a long year based on talent rather than wishful thinking.
3. People actually want to put their money in and feel a part of it. Economics has nothing to do with that emotional action.

The numbers say so and the talk on the street does as well.

Its pretty obvious last year is now irelevant for most people.

The interesting stats would be to compare membership revenue. More numbers doesn't always mean more money.

We've all had a laugh about Richmond and Hawthorn's pet and child memberships but the momentum from their membership numbers is massive and seems to permeate the entire respective clubs. I'm delighted that we've decided to enter the 21st century in this regard.

CFC asked me to be part of a dining & entertainment package lucky membership ballot - unfortunately I had to decline due to work commitments......kudos for the initiative however......
