Academies are only recent. Also look at the Swans side, majority of our players are not from NSW, same with GWS. I can't stand players who enter the draft and then either don't try when they are drafted to a club they did not want to go to or they try and get traded back to their home state almost immediately.

Heeney is mentally tough. No way would he not bother trying with the club he was drafted to and then try and get himself traded to his preferred club cheaply.
