It would arguably be more democratic if they included all three options and then made it preferential.
I did have a thought that remain could only win with a “super majority “ eg 65% to account for losing the initial referendum

Gets very messy when you start trying to resolve a 3-way contest with a 2-way binary vote. Preferential is the best way to resolve it, it gives a much clearer picture of the will of the electorate.

That should have counted for the first referendum then, because 'leave' lost the one before that

The pro-Irish sentiment pervasive in Brussels extended to Mairead McGuinness‏, an Irish vice president of the European Parliament.

McGuinness‏, who is extremely popular among colleagues in the Parliament, almost won the nomination for president of the European People's Party, finishing second to Antonio Tajani, who went on to claim the top job. And when it came time to elect the 14 vice presidents of the chamber, she finished first, 88 votes ahead of her closest contender.

Last week, McGuinness won praise after issuing a stern rebuke to a British Euroskeptic MEP, David Coburn. “Mr. Coburn, you and I have a special relationship. I’m special and I don’t know what you are!” McGuinness said after Coburn interrupted a speech by Commission First Vice President Frans Timmermans with cries of “freedom is essential!”

Putting in remain allows the argument “invalidating the prior referendum “ though. Present to the public the two leave options then we can see what public want.
No, it would show what one-half of less than one-half of the public want.

Fair point, if England was a horse you'd shoot it, the rest of Britain still has something to offer the world.

If you are going to try and troll at least make an effort.

My guess is they'll allow an extension up to shortly before the EU elections, allow the UK to continue haemorrhaging intellectuals and businesses into the EU, then refuse any further extensions and let the UK crash out without a deal.

Oh no, how could the UK possibly afford to lose people like AC Grayling.

Chuka Umunna has said The Independent Group would "not stand in the way" of Theresa May's Brexit deal if she puts it to a public vote.

On Twitter, addressing the meeting with the PM held before her address to the country, he said: ".@Anna_Soubry and I very much welcomed the chance to have a frank discussion - on behalf of @TheIndGroup - with the PM this evening on the national political crisis the UK is in, along with representatives of the other opposition groups in the House of Commons.

"We made it clear we would not stand in the way of the PM’s #Brexit deal IF she puts it to the people in a confirmatory #PeoplesVote with Remain on the ballot. At the very least a series of indicative votes should be held to determine where a majority lies in the Commons.

European Council (Art. 50) conclusions, 21 March 2019

  1. The European Council takes note of the letter of Prime Minister Theresa May of 20 March 2019.
  2. In response, the European Council approves the Instrument relating to the Withdrawal Agreement and the Joint Statement supplementing the Political Declaration agreed between the European Commission and the government of the United Kingdom in Strasbourg on 11 March 2019.
  3. The European Council agrees to an extension until 22 May 2019, provided the Withdrawal Agreement is approved by the House of Commons next week. If the Withdrawal Agreement is not approved by the House of Commons next week, the European Council agrees to an extension until 12 April 2019 and expects the United Kingdom to indicate a way forward before this date for consideration by the European Council.
  4. The European Council reiterates that there can be no opening of the Withdrawal Agreement that was agreed between the Union and the United Kingdom in November 2018. Any unilateral commitment, statement or other act should be compatible with the letter and the spirit of the Withdrawal Agreement.
  5. The European Council calls for work to be continued on preparedness and contingency at all levels for the consequences of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal, taking into account all possible outcomes.
  6. The European Council will remain seized of the matter.

They'll just keep kicking the can down the road rather than go over the edge of the cliff. Parliament and the government will need to confront the issue of whether or not they participate in the upcoming EU elections. Once they get over that hurdle time and deadlines become meaningless. I give Therese May another 2 weeks before she's gone.

I see Brexit has 2 options given how horrendous the May deal is:
1. Stay In.
2. Get Out with No Deal.

Unfortunately at this point I see the No Deal as the only real option.

The road turns into the cliff in 7 days. There won't be a can to kick.

Yep - clearly the EU want Britain out prior to the elections, hence the choice of dates ignoring the 30 June preferred UK option.

Has May discovered yet she's bluffing on a pair of twos when the EU are holding Aces?

What pisses me off more than anything is knowing those vile campaigners like Farage and Johnson are going to get everything they want.

The EU decided overnight to extend. Depending on whether May's deal get voted through by parliament or not the new deadlines are 23 May or 12 April respectively. The driver behind these dates is the next EU elections. If May's deal gets voted down by parliament they have to decide by 12 April to participate in the next round of EU elections. There are enough Remainer and Soft-Brexiters in the house that would prefer anything to to no-deal, so they'll take the EU elections option rather than crash out. Once this happens Therese May is finished as PM.
