Part 4 is here:

Speaking of Freo town and shitty drinking dens, has anyone ever heard of this place? Or even better yet, been?

http://edz.com.au/

It looks shit

I used to go to Freo and get pissed

2 young children and fatherhood has me looking after them.

I don't mind the gate. Yes it's bogan central with fights but the kiwis like me. Maybe coz I stick up for my self and am.beyter at rap than they are? But yes there are plenty if shit pubs in and near Freo

Reading ya hipster pish in these threads is enough, doubt I could put up with you for a beer never mind a session.
I'm a pretty normal guy, could probably drink you under the table too (unfortunately).

Edz is the worst bar in Perth, surely? Looks atrocious. Would love to see if anyone has had a parma there... I'm guessing the taps are Carlton Cold, Swan, and some of that fancy **** shit like uh, Little Creatures.

Seems like it would make sense to me, expand the port facilities there and build a cargo rail corridor back up to kewdale. Doesnt come with the massive envornmental damage the cockburn outer harbour would (which they keep suppressing)

Hahaha you are a huge drinker and a homophobe and don’t like working class type pubs.
You don’t sound like a normal guy.

Homophobe?

I am working class, but Edz just looks like a shithole.

I don't get the whole environmental damage to Cockburn Sound bit that some people are on about from container ships loading and unloading at Kwinana rather than Fremantle.

It would involve building facilities out into the ocean, breakwaters and the like, as well as dredging out the channels for the ships to come in.

Yeah but you can't see all that from my place, so it will be fine.

Was always a massive touch of that in building an outer harbour over Roe 9, moving the damage somewhere all the protestors either cant show up or wont because they werent actually environment protestors.

I don't think it is possible to build a facility anywhere with zero impact. As far as Cockburn Sound goes, it is already well used by ships using the bulk wheat, oil and alumina refinery jetties, the channels have already been dredged. Just the container wharf needs to be built. I don't see it coming close to ruining the Sound, it is not some untouched virgin wilderness area.

There was a good story on Gardening Australia the other week about how researchers have spent years slowly rejuvenating the seagrass of the Sound, after much of it had been destroyed over the decades by dredging.

That dredging was for the cement works. the one with a factory right on the tip of Woodman Point. They used to dig up shellsand to use as a raw material for making cement. That is a bit different to shipping channels, it is effectively a mining operation. Yes, it was very damaging to the Sound.

I think Buckeridge was really pushing for most of the port industrial activity to be 're-located' down the road to Kwinana. He hated unions and I think at least some of his reasoning was that by re-stumping/re-plumbing and re-wiring(thanks for that Floss), he'd effectively have an op that started from the ground up and no, or very minimal, union involvement = more money(apparently his 1.4billion wasn't enough).

But he's since fallen off the perch. Official cause of death is listed as a heart attack but my spidey senses tell me that it was the work of an MUA assassin(Ol Leonard was a seafood lover. Find 2 and then another 2 and then put them together people).

Anyway, just a couple of thoughts from a non South Beach lifer(****, I don't even have a relative that has lived there).
