Strong effort losing 2 and then having to switch to wet weather footy.

Some fuzzy feels:
- Scott Lycett could push to be the best ruck in the league
- Tom Rockliff and Travis Boak going back into their primes - wow.
- I bet we win most 50/50s when Drew or Butters are involved. Incredibly solid players.

I was worried about trading off Chad and Polec but I think it was the right choice now. Off-season change of going from moving out a bunch of flashy players to just solid footballers is paying off well right now. The squad looks so much more balanced.

Last year we said take the 4 points and move on to next week. That betrayed some deficiencies. But today I'll take the 4 points

High pressure scrappy game in poor conditions. Do need to ask what's happening in Q1.

60 to 36 clearances & a 100 disposals limp over the line. Need to work some yips out.

Love our younger players. When we move it , it can be clean and fast. Lots to be excited about, but a few things to work on obviously

Pretty shit form.

Anyway:

The biggest thing about this win is that it was on the back of our youngsters. Butters, Drew and Rozee all stood up and handled the pressure really well.

Marshall, Bonner and, to a lesser extent, DBJ have to be nervous.

I thought we played OK, just a bit sloppy in the conditions. Onwards to next week.

Wasn't pretty, but that was a solid win. Carlton aren't the easy beats they once were. I actually had a moments tbought during game where I tbought getting rid of Chad was the right thing after all. Cos we didn't just gain class, we lost laziness.

But the biggest story of the night is watts. He is a top quality player, and I really did have high hopes for him in the back line this year. Howard can definitely fill the void, but not the same class. Hope it's not too serious, but I'm not confident. I'm thinking broken and a good three months out.

That goal at the end was sweet. Encourage those at the game to ensure to watch it on replay. The Motlop goal it was.

So much to be excited about seeing that. Some 10 year players there
