Ess are a bottom 5 list. And that’s exactly where they will finish. Couldn’t believe the media hype over summer, was good for a laugh. They recruited the 5th best midfielder at gws and you’d think he was Jesus Christ himself according to the media. Gonna be a very long season for those who bought into the hype

Bookmark this, they will win it all in 2019 their midfield is looking very good now that Shiel is going there. They have a pretty good forward line and their back half can do the job.

They had a very handy midfield in 2018 and now with Shiel he will be the final piece of the puzzle, watch out for Essendon.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Off season premiers every year it feels like. There seems to be a few loud Essendon supporters in the media which doesn’t help.

I was surprised by the belting last week but I’m not surprised at all they’re 0-2.

Their list is overrated. Their forward line is awful at the moment, although no Daniher obviously hurts. Their midfield simply doesn’t stand up when needed time after time. Carlton’s one man midfield last year literally did what they wanted against them. The fact they went and got Shiel and it was seen as some massive get that would fix the issues is laughable. Where is the hardness?

The fact that Dodoro continues to stay on and be praised year after year is hilarious.

Few things

For no natural midfielders. Not sure if this is correct. Hard inside ball winners? Absolutely.. lot of guys who can run and spread. Whos winning it however?

Pressure. None
Lots of times GWS and st Kilda had some takeaways too easy. Something fundamental in terms of positioning in contested possessions need to change by next week

The group look a broken. Simple lack of basic things hurt. For taking a silver lining out of the saints game is fools gold. The saints are not a side who can punish turnovers or defend. They will be bottom 4. If tour silver lining is a fightback on a club missing 2 of their best defenders and crying out for forward targets....yeesh

what's the story about two Essendon players going to the bench when they weren't meant to?

They were in a position to win a contested possession. That's not what they're about at Essendon, so of course they were meant to go to the bench.

Not really, our season is already finished.

I’ve heard that a lot, but surely the immediate turn around has to be coincidental?

Remove a bloke (who is one of a large team of the football department), and there is an immediate change? He must have had one hell of an influence if that was the case

The role he was in was a kind of experimental one where he was in essence a chokepoint between the coach and the assistants. So instead of the coach telling assistansts directly what the wanted, or the assistints communicating to the coach directly what they were seeing, they would go through Neeld instead. So yes, he had a lot of influence because the entire communcation system broke down, and therefore so did the gameplan. It wasn't his fault, per se, just that the role didn't make much sense, which is why it came together once the role was eliminated.

Has a side ever come from a 0-2 start to a season and won a flag?

Some observers believe list rebuilds may be worth considering for contending teams which have bad 0-2 starts to a season

Would have thought “experimental” was a no go zone at tulla these days ...

It seems like the Essendon drug saga is set to continue. There are unconfirmed reports Essendon players have tested positive to SPUDS-859. Symptoms observed may include small heart size, lack of coordination and reduced brain function.

covering this one up is going to be harder than the last.... :(

Well the Bombers have been woken from cold storage, they are going to be a very hard team to beat, Shiel is starting to click and their midfield is starting to click.
