As someone whose worked in the Grants area for over a decade.... It goes against everything we've done in recent years. However in the lead up to elections, anything goes for both sides....

Is this the Liberal government appealing to the Crows 100,000 paper members?

Polec delivered neither and wasn’t prepared to stick around for the latter.

Neither would I in his situation. Voted bottom 2 in a popularity contest and a low-ball contract offer. I wish the unfortunate outcast well.

Probably...

Just like State Labor handed money out as quick as it could before they lost the election...

Freo are shit.
Ok, but the end would have been a whole new level of shitness. Freo was losing the scoring-shot totals, but not by much (-3). So, being ahead was not that surprising.

However, 6 of the last 7 scores were GC's. It is really difficult to win, if you are -8 in score shots. It looks like exhaustion.

People of the Port board: How do we feel about Impey a couple years on? My understanding is that the pick we got for him winded up being involved in a bunch of convoluted trades that assisted in us getting Rozee. However, I'm more talking about: do you think Impey would make us a better team if he stayed?

Definitely lacked confidence at Port. Hawks really was the fresh start he needed. Started well last year before going backwards a bit

Was a whipping boy here and needed to leave.

Bae: Come over
Me: I can't, I'm playing for Essendon
Bae: My parents aren't home
Me:

Essendon will go from completely ignoring the ball, to twirling it on their finger globetrotter style on their way to 10 straight goals against us.

Gray and Boak have given more to this club that Polec ever could (at least without charging for it).
Both Gray and Boak are also 30 so do NOT have the currency of a 25 yo being offered overs by desperate north so claiming we should have traded them is stupidity.

I’d also point out that both to date have had more possessions and double the contested possessions showing they are doing some of the grunt work needed to support bringing young players into the side.

I don’t begrudge Polec taking the money in a short career - he’s done right by him and the club has done the right thing for them. But ultimately the parties were too far apart.

Ultimately if you want to refresh a team with youth you want people around them of the right character ...... the club called it right.
Also Boak could've gone to Geelong. He's more than proved his loyalty.

This Polec love is a bit misplaced. He's not a bad player but he needed to prove his defensive capability before he was worth bigger dollars. We got kids who are extremely accountable, run both ways and score goals. Morale at the club is at an all time high. Can't see Polec or Wingard buying in to this new culture. They were introverts who didn't gel with the group.

We effectively traded Wingard and Polec for Rozee, Duursma and team harmony, and gave Polec's money to Lycett instead.

No hard feelings Polgard but in hindsight I'm doing those trades again one million times out of a million.

Don’t forget Burton either.

Out of all of our off season players traded out Jack Hombsch got his first win before the rest in his 100th, playing at Gold Coast.

:hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:
So happy for Hombsch. He was a true club man, a gentleman and gave his all. He only left for more opportunity, as did Young and Pittard. I wish all three of them nothing but the best.

Another guy whose lack of composure cost us games and rode by on the promise of a good highlight every now and then.

The number of times he'd break free on the half forward line, looking a million dollars only to either get tackled as he kicked it or flat punt it over the boundary line.. frustrating player that requires a coach with clear control of his players' roles within the team, so basically Alastair Clarkson.

Would not have him near the team again and really struggle to care either way how he does at Hawthorn.

We are too hard on our players
Impey was worst on ground in the SANFL and then 2 weeks later found himself playing in an AFL Elim Final, where he cost us then too.

Play well and we'll pump your tyres up, if you don't perform fans will tell it how it is. Pittard for example knew all about the highs and lows of form.

Says more about the coach.

I reckon both Impey and Wings will do very well under Clarko. I have no bad feelings against Impey.

Spot on Clarko, a quiet coffee with Gill will be much more effective ( although I love that on face value this could appear to be a dig at Goodwin)
