So for all the hype around the AFLW grand final crowd it would seem the only people to profit from it were the SMA through catering, and the crows through marketing etc.
Surely everyone making a gold coin donation at the gate for local homeless shelters or even local clubs supporting grass roots women’s football would’ve been the go. Whose idea was it not to do this? Surely at some time during the planning process this idea was thrown up. Surely?

Last week West Coast copped 30 degrees at 9pm+87% humidity. In similar weather conditions it's going to be tough for Port up there in the tropics.
Luckily the game is in Brisbane and not Rockhampton. ;)

Spot on Clarko, a quiet coffee with Gill will be much more effective ( although I love that on face value this could appear to be a dig at Goodwin)

Clarko won't make a fuss publicly, but I would love to be as sure of winning x-lotto as I am that he won't let yesterday's umpiring performance slide without having a spit to someone at AFL house today, because that's the way he rolls.

So the Feds have promised the ‘have’ club $15 mill for the Crows own selfish and lofty ends.
How much have they promised the ‘have not’ club for its Aboriginal. Centre of excellence?
Those who vote Libs deserve everything they get... I feel I’ve said this so many times.

People of the Port board: How do we feel about Impey a couple years on? My understanding is that the pick we got for him winded up being involved in a bunch of convoluted trades that assisted in us getting Rozee. However, I'm more talking about: do you think Impey would make us a better team if he stayed?

Certainly had some attributes that come in handy in the modern game. Like many though had stagnated and kept making the same mistakes in games (seemed like coaching was equally to blame as the player), also seemed to be struggling in Adelaide off the park with a few things. Hence we did the right thing by the player and traded him below value. Probably a good thing we traded him to Hawthorn as they seem very similar to us in trading, whereby they just want to get a deal done instead of haggling and trying to rinse other teams. This i think worked in our favour with the Wingard trade where Hawthorn did all they could to satisfy our demands.

The problem is if eveyone put in a dollar at the gate they would not have finished with $53,000 and then what?

Essendon will go from completely ignoring the ball, to twirling it on their finger globetrotter style on their way to 10 straight goals against us.

Re goal reviews - surely if "the SloMo guys" on YT can take essentially a consumer camera set up to freeze frame lightning, the AFL can afford a similar system for goal decisions? Yet again the vision of yesterday's "touched" goal looked like it had come from a VHS player. I'd defy anyone to conclusively demonstrate a "touch" on what we saw. Does the fourth umpire have better tech than what's shown on TV?

When you slow things down you need increased frame rates or it looks jumpy like each frame is further apart.

Those videos would be shot at high frame rates

The afl just uses its broadcast cameras for the reviews (at least the ones we see) and that is why when they slow it down it looks jumpy. No idea why it looks pixelated like **** though.

Short answer is that they aren’t using the right equipment set up in the right way to slow the footage down.

Yeah i don't know much about broadcast cameras but that sounds like the limitation as philthy says. The slomo guys also have the benefit of knowing when the event will occur within a few seconds and taking as long as they want to retrieve and present the footage.

With $2 coins they could have claimed a 70k+ crowd though:think:

Then take into account all those people who flat out refuse to pay for anything. So once you’ve fished out all the old Downtown and Magic Mountain tokens the final figure might have been closer to $11,000.

Wew... what a ******* blockbuster friday night is going to be, Bombers vs Demons.
As crazy as it is I can't wait for it. Theres a ripping few games this weekend.

Crows V Geelong should be awesome.
Melb V Essendon which touted top 4 side is going to go 0-3.
Port V Brissy - huge clash of two 2-0 sides.
Coll V WC - GF replay

Say what you want about these predictive analytics websites, but if it is even remotely close and the bottom sides are near 7 wins we're in for 1 heck of a season.

Episode 3 of Nyoongar Footy Magic - the Krakouer Brothers is on NITV tonight 8pm, your local time. Grave Danger

Another excellent episode. They certainly lit up the VFL when they were with North Melbourne but never tasted premiership success, with Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton dominating that decade.

I got to see them play for Claremont one time when I was in WA on holiday in 1981, the year before they went to the VFL. It was a top of the table clash with Swan Districts at Bassendean Oval with a crowd of over 14,000 squeezed in like sardines. Some big names playing that day, with Graham Moss, the Krakouers, Wayne Blackwell and Warren Ralph for Claremont and Simon Beasley, Murray Rance, Phil Narlkle, Leon Baker and Mike Richardson for the Swans. Claremont won a high scoring game by 2 points. The only actual detail I can remember from the game was seeing the work of big Ron Boucher in the forward pocket, like a wrecking ball clearing a path for the pretty boy full forward Beasley.

The other thing I remember from that holiday was watching a certain cricket match in my hotel room - definitely unforgettable stuff from Botham and Willis. Oh, and I bought a cricket bat from Keith Slater, who played footy for Swan Districts and one test for Australia.

The final in the Nyoongar Magic series will be on Nicky Winmar.

This board would be going postal if Hinkley made those comments publicly after that umpiring effort.
