Sam Gray player a cracking game of SANFL and deserved to be in the frame for selection.

Howard was out of form and did not deserve to be selected.

The side mostly should get another run to prove themselves. That being said Sammy Gray and Howard should both make way.

I felt our pace was off through the centre, we need more direction down back and we need a forward 50 target.

Pace: Atley is probably our quickest mid and he was ok and not deserving of a spot yet. Trengove isn’t quick. We are really waiting on Amon and Atley here.

Forward target: Dixon may be done for the year. I don’t hold out hope for Frampton and Ladhams doesn’t really play that role. It’s Marshall or McKenzie and you can’t pick Marshall after that performance. (I wouldn’t have dropped him in the first place!). Howard could roll forward but I don’t think he has trained or played as a forward for a long time.

Backline leadership: Hartlett and Broadbent are your men, but both need another run or three in the SANFL first. Lienert and/or McKenzie could come in for Howard.

Changes:
Out: Howard, Gray
In: Lienert, Farrell

What I think may happen:
Out: Drew, Bonner
In: Mayes, McKenzie

Dixon out for the year now?! I have not been paying attention.

Damn. Imagine how much extra spunk we’d have with Big Dix on the park.
We will get extra spunk if we start doing edging drills during the week.

We don't need Dixon, we just need a tall forward. Dixon isn't even that good. Truth be told, Frampton wouldn't do a lot worse, let alone Marshall. The key is to have some height to take a few marks inside 50, give the opposition defenders something to worry about, bring the ball to ground so that spuds like Darcy Freaking Gardiner don't have a field day racking up intercept marks. It's frighteningly simple shit really.

Josh Walker had 11(!!!) intercepts. We took 9 marks inside 50.

We all know Ken cut his teeth as an assistant with that wonderful Geelong era, where in any given week they’d ride or die with at least two of Mooney, N. Ablett & Hawkins, with the likes of Ottens resting through. Then he goes up to the Gold Coast where they had at least two of Lynch, Dixon & Day, with Fraser and Zac Smith resting through.

But he gets to Alberton and can’t wait to dispense with the second banana, let alone the third.

What if Schulz hadn’t cooked his back, robbing us of his tandem with Dixon after one week in 2016? Does Ken follow him around Adelaide trying to do him in, Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner style?

Probably.

Not sure if the TV coverage showed it- but Rocky left the three quarter huddle dry reaching in his mouth like 15 times as he ran off
****ing Cameron

I’d also be happy if Trengove got a run, but I doubt it very much.

Could also see Drew going out to make way for Farrell.
It is a crying shame if Drew has to go out and Ollie had better darn well start to play and act like a leader if he is the reason Drew is dropped.

He isn’t out for the year

Maybe, his recovery isn’t going too well, he will miss a lot of games. Another setback and he may miss the season.

Drew is ok but very light and lacks presence on both inside and outside. Certainly a contributor but not a game changer like a fit and firing Wines. I reckon people are being way too critical of him on his first game back.

Yep and that's great, but what do we do in the interim? The only silver lining about this loss is that hopefully that tactical change will come under some scrutiny and we might see another tall introduced.

Pick Lienert and swing Howard forward?

Marshall won't have a 2-3 goal, 18 disposal and 6-8 mark game at SANFL level this year. It's not a realistic expectation. He's a really good chance of having one or two at AFL level if he's backed in.

We should of tried swapping foward yeaterday. We could try giving McKenzie a shot as a slightly undersized CHF, still 190cm.

See, Marshall could of yesterday, the problem was for most of the game he looked lazy and like someone who didn’t want to be a footballer.

It doesn’t matter how good you are, you need to want it. That was Marshall problem yesterday, he didn’t want it. If he had the right attitude he easily gets those stats, regardless of how the game played out. Had he done that he is straigh back in for Richmond.

Wasn’t it around this time last year that Todd’s father died? You might find that has something to do with it.
