Duck is a bit like David King, he is very reactionary and he will swing form one extreme to the other based on which way the wind is blowing because he is more interested in getting attention than being right.

I think he made one fair comment, that Brown goes to ground too easily and at times gives up and makes half-hearted attempts to tackle. You can plot that through his ups and downs, it isn't just a reflection of a down point, but the rest of what he said was garbage. He kicked a lot of goals last year from ball gathered at ground level, I would suggest he got more goals from free kicks and ground level ball than he did from marks.

His major problem is he makes himself too easy to defend against when he is flat footed. If he gets out on a lead into space it doesn't matter if there is 2, 3 or 4 players on him, if he can find a bit of real estate to get on a hard lead and sticks his 1m arms up it is damn hard to spoil legally. He needs to present, if he isn't in a good position he needs to run back hard deep into the forward 50 and present again, even if he is not utilised he will drag a lot of players out of the contest if he remains mobile and it becomes harder for defenders to box him in when he is mobile because you can't block someone more than 5m off the ball.

Duck has just given no allowance that he had an injury interrupted pre-season. I don't think he has the killer instinct or ever will, but I think he is professional enough to do what the team requires. I am sure Duck didn't want the media asking him if he had the hunger to be the best and take overhead marks when he had bung shoulders, he should know more than most in the media that players don't exist in a bubble.

Re. Browny, even that american bozo Mason Cox looked like a superstar when Buckley decided to get his better deliverers to kick the ball to his advantage in that final last year, and he is as, if not more cumbersome than Browny, and nowhere near as good a kick.

Thought we'd finally get some blowtorch to the coaching staff on FC and the selection table, not much was mentioned and it was a retread of what Duck said about Ben Brown from Lloyd.

Again, we were talked about the least, must have been 1-2 mins of conversation.

Scott lives another week.

It's nearly 20 years ago. It's not as if he killed anyone. We need to let it go and move on
Bloody oath. People are out of jail in less time for murder. It is done.
If anything, constantly bringing it up just adds to Stevo's pain there.
Both Carey and Stevo have given so much joy to my life (and a host of others), and to me, joy, pound for pound, always comes out on top.

Bang on.
I think just some words from him to inspire the team would send the message like no other.
Even some one on one time with players like LMac would inspire to get the best out of himself.

I explicitly said before, he's not the answer to all our problems.

But if you want to begin your clean out and get members back on board, maybe to announce you're bringing Duck back in some form would engage the supporters a fair bit.

To kickstart all this though, we need to axe just about everyone. Only ones I can conceivably keep is maybe Tudor & Shaw.
I like that idea, and am a huge fan of the Duck.
But AFLW says no

A number of key forwards are struggling at the minute so Brown isnt Robinson Crusoe but Careys observations are spot on. You can probably afford to be one dimensional if you have the support to pick up the slack but at the moment we dont and this just simply exaggerates Browns deficiencies.

Would love to see Carey down at the club, however while Brad Scott is there I feel Carey's efforts would be wasted.

Did i miss it? Just switched on and saw Brisbane chat. What did he say?

The one thing I want to see most is that when an opposition defender drops off to fill the hole , is for Benny to put his knee through that player . He needs to be more aggressive .

So true... but this goes for almost the whole team - including defenders. Against the lions, our lack of body work in marking contests was crystal clear.

Speaking of, I noticed several hawthorn players beating our guys in marking contests body on body.

We used to be a great contested marking side throughout the list. I'd go as far as to say players would improve in that one attribute when they came to North.

No longer the case.

“I think history is now being re-written with how the game is being played..hopefully that gives the sides that are 0-2 more hope than ever.” - Scott on AFL360

If you use the word hope, hopefully or any other variation of the word; you have no idea what you are doing when it comes to planning.

I like that idea, and am a huge fan of the Duck.

That covers a lot of it. The moralizers who have laid down roots in the game in order to give themselves relevance don't have football as their main priority. It's why our club is currently going to shit.

I actually think it hilarious that people want Duck to come and coach us when the biggest thing he identified was Brown not being dynamic enough.

At this stage surely that's a nice to have not the fundamental issue withthe team.

I don't think folks are kicking down the door to make him head coach, but he could hardly be worse considering the situation.

However, there's absolutely merit in him coming down once a week to deal with the group, and particularly the forwards.

My strong hunch is that admin are standing in the way, and Brad doesn't want a bigger persona than himself wandering around the place either.

Can't remember where i heard the term first, but "ball security" is now becoming a thing, is definitely a RFI area for us as a team.
