I said it earlier, Georgiades is the key to Port getting JHF.

They wont have a choice and North need to force this to happen.

I think the only reason he "nominated" Port was because they expected Crows to hand over 5 for Rankine so it would be pissing into the wind to say he is okay going to Adelaide. He said he was still a Freo supporter the year we drafted him, hard to imagine he has fallen in love with them recently.

I think them chasing Jason isn't a great idea, as a free agent sure, if you were on the bottom of the ladder and he was out of contract, definitely. Port are in a weird place, I wouldn't be surprised if they imploded next year. Gray has retired, Boak is 34, is he going again? Amon has gone to the Hawks, Georgiades wants to go home, Bergman wants to go home, Duursma has flatlined, Rozee and Butters their only under 25 players that have hit a 20 disposal average. Is it the right time for them to be spending big on a player? He isn't going to be a cheap acquisition. Not my call though.

I'd prefer parting ways this year but it largely depends on how reasonable/desperate Port is. I think if we said we weren't trading him this year because Port couldn't get remotely close to what is "the media expectation" then I am sure he would be open to the Crows next year if they didn't think Port could get the job done.

I think being out of contract next year would be a different ball game. There is also the possible nightmare scenario that one of the SA teams ends up on the bottom for us because we'd go from what I think should be a good offer this year to potentially nothing next year.

The Crows 2023 1st, 2nd and 2024 1st is going to be better than anything you get from Port.

Crows will still be a bottom 5 Club in 2023.

Holding onto JHF could lead to a bigger pay day, especially more so given the 2023 draft is rated higher than this years. Mind you they say that with every draft.

Kelly backed up his trade request in 2018 with an AA selection in 2019.

JHF, with his attitude shown this year? Not at the same level.

HOWEVER, us also being in the convo next year will drive the price up. Port won’t want that. Port will need to pay up this year because next year we come knocking as well.

I think there will be a lot of suitors for him next year, some would ask him to consider going elsewhere. I think the timing has left a lot to be desired but the circumstances this year are pretty unusual, especially with this Hawthorn investigation.

Going to be interesting if Port refuse to trade out any players.

Means their best offer is picks #8, #27 & future 1st.

Doubt the Roos would except this for a contracted gum.

Also, how do they then land Rioli?

It could lead to a bigger pay day for North if he has a breakout year, it could also be a disaster for them. If JHF goes backwards next year and has more behavioural issues then North will likely get less than they could this trade period. He will be out of contract and North will lose any power they have now.

I think North would be crazy to take the risk, now is the time to cut their losses and cash in while they can. It would take a huge turnaround to get him to change his mind next year and commit long term for them.

That was the second half of the '97 prelim.

By the end of his third season he was a norm smith winning elite.

By the end of his fourth he was an All Australian, who had kicked seven goals in a preliminary final and won back to back Norm Smiths.

People need to stop it. The comparison is too often made, and never earned.

Did I not say he had stints both forward and midfield?

He had stints in midfield in all the finals.

Really, get over it.

Rankine and Rachele will be part of a midfield. Nothing surer.
