Doesn’t care, he asked the afl if he could name them in number order (so Harry Morrison at FB)

Got told he’d get fined 🤣

I will ask and apologises for the intrusion! But two questions.

Sicily or Day possibly tagged?

Durham or someone else to Sicily?

🙏

I think Durham could go to Day.

Last time Guelfi went to Sicily and niggled him all game (kicked 2 or 3 as well I believe) but he is out with injury and we don't really have anybody like that this time but I reckon somebody will go to Sicily as Brad did it last time with success.

The little Oompa Loompa can’t see over the seat otherwise. They had to get baby booster seats for him and Watson.

We've named the youngest side of any team this round. Most players with under 100 games. Fourth lowest in terms of games per player.

Geez that Collingwood side is seriously old.

I have a single level 2 ticket P13 row B. Going to MCC members tonite.

$50 less than cost price.

DM me if interested, thanks.

Solid line up. Going to be a tough game, the Hawks all of sudden look damn good on paper.

Only surprise to me is not seeing either Setterfield nor Hayes as an emergency. I thought they both had better pre-seasons than El-Hawli.

I just wonder who considering your side generally speaking forward of the ball is more attacking, a good thing however. Maybe a defender goes forward to sit on him?

But I agree.

The ins and outs show why we probably lose this game. Both sides are improved for sure but hawks improvements are super solid vs our mostly young hopefuls. If kako, caddy, bryan and robert’s play great games then that’s another story.

Thanks for that. Did you work that out manually, or is there a place on the link you sent through that makes those calculations?

Edit: might also be a phone v desktop thing

I like the look of the team, it's pretty well balanced.

Almost all of the best talent playing that is a viable selection. Nice to see Roberts and Bryan in the team. Hopefully that's a reflection of things to come.

Still lacking another quick small forward but there isn't really an alternative and it might be a little tall for this Hawthorn.

Nevertheless, a good team on paper.

We just look too tall across the park for me - both the forward and backlines look imbalanced. And having Gresham sub (which is the whisper) compounds this.

Last night was super dewy/slippery and I expect today to be similar. We are going to get smashed on the ground ball.

We need to drop a tall (e.g. Jones) and bring in another small. Unfortunately Scott plays to his fixed idea of the 23 - and not the conditions.

Agree re small forward, Im hoping adj or unwin can step up to compliment Kako at some point this season.

Concerned about the height, too.

Your post prompted me to look more carefully at the teams. If we look at it solely from the perspective of how many pure talls (i.e. rucks and KPPs only) are playing its:

Draper, Bryan, McKay and Reid v Barrass, Battle, Frost, Chol and Meek. Jones will play on a wing but call it 5 v 5 for the sake of argument. We load our forward line with those mid-sized hybrids (i.e. Caddy, Langford and Perkins) whereas the Hawks play them in primarily defence (i.e. Weddell, Sicily, Scrimshaw).

I guess the question is whether our medium forwards can cancel our their medium defenders. They're better runners across the board.

Was just listening to the latest Don the Stat pod talking about this - the hypothesis being that the club wants to get games into tall players like Reid and Bryan and Jones and build chemistry across lines (aka backline of Reid, Ridley & McKay and dual ruck combo etc), so it might have been a decision between taking a long-term view vs picking a team with the best chance of winning a particular game.

The EFC actually put the players in their correct positions as well

Agree. The win or loss has to come second to the players development

Think we’ve got to be ahead at 3qt time by a couple of goals to be any chance of winning. Boys will be out on their feet, first game of the year plus haven’t played in over 2 weeks. While the hawks already had their first game last week.

we won the same fixture last year in the same circumstances (sans the added bye)
