Harper Banfield won't be available until the 2027 draft which will be ridiculously compromised due to the Tasmanian team.

Could cost us all our picks (or even more) if he ends up a top prospect.

Bringing this up now since he got 30 touches last week and has basically three!!! full seasons of Colts to play yet.

He's eligible next year

Anyone following the NFL draft in Lambeau Field, Wisconsin? Wow!
205,000 people crammed in watching the 1st night of the draft. Green Bay only has a population of 100.000.
Talk about a big night!

A big night in the true sense of the word.

Anyone watching the young guns Vic metro game and anybody stand out as a MSD option?

Someone told me he'd just turned 16 but looks like that was in December so I got that wrong.

Given how many top father son and academy picks there have been recently, the situation I mentioned could come up for someone though.

Assuming Tasmania get the same draft picks as GC/GWS, the team that finishes second last wouldn't have enough points to match a bid at pick 1 even with a 20% discount. A team that finished a bit higher would need to trade in another end of first round pick to match. Free agent compensation picks could make it even harder.

Maybe they will increase the discount for the 2027 draft but that would hurt Tasmania.

Going by the neck and the ears, he would have to be, wouldn't he? Have not heard anything mentioned about him though.
Anyone in the know?

Is he a prospect? Any good? His father was one of my favourites back in the day.
Haven’t tracked him particularly closely TBH but wouldn’t have thought so and next year appears a pretty set play to me at this stage. Bid on Lucas Robinson with our 1R, then take best available then the rest of our picks will get eaten up by Kenh, McGlade and Harper Banfield. Going to be a crop worth getting excited about for us.

Agree.
Bid on L Robinson as he was in our NGA before FRE discovered he was in their zone by a few km's.
If OA stays, I would be trading our 1R into this year to get an extra pick in the top 10.
Our NGA prospects should be able to be covered by the rest of our draft hand.
Where do you see Banfield, Kenh and McGlade projecting?

It’s a bit frustrating that we lost Robinson to Freo’s NGA but that doesn’t factor into it whatsoever. He is projecting well enough to gain a top 10 bid on ability.

McGlade and Kenh I view as early 2Rs but could push higher and for that reason I’d be open to trading our F2 to bundle up only to get up the order this year and go into points deficit for 2027. Banfield anywhere after the 2R or Cat A rookie but that will depend on how “complex” the draft is in the second round.

Our 1R won’t get a top 10 pick this year, I’d be very reluctant to trade that pick into this draft. We have enough later picks and our F2 to out bid anyone on points for an early pick without sacrificing that one.

If we had a second list spot open up before the MSD, what would people think about Zac Mainwaring? Looked quite classy against the beagles on the weekend I thought in that HFF role, and seems to be a regular goal kicker at wafl level.

Cripps is near the end, and we’ve got a lot of other spuds rotating through that position atm. Worth a look as a cheap option?

ok, agree with your analysis.
Robinson looks a ripper.
Think your strategy of using F2 and others is a good one.
2027 points deficit is also a good plan, if our drafting and trading are very strong 25/26 this would be a good play as most drafting positions should be covered by then.
Thought Banfield is putting together a very good underage year and would have him around Kenh, but a long way to go.

I haven't been a regular watcher but he looks to have matured into a very solid SF player averaging around 1.5 goals a game.
We have heaps of SF types and NGA types coming through over the next couple of years so perhaps not so much of a need, but if WC see Brockman as a bust or not developing as hoping we could do worse than offering him a train on spot later in the year and rookie him?
