Darcy is one very intelligent ruckman. He knows what to do when we get the ball and he compliments the team so well. His 60-70% game time is invaluable. Meek was excellent today. But Jackson and Darcy still beat him and chol. Jackson alone gets beaten in the ruck. Darcy gives us so much more flexibility

Cats, pies, lions & Dogs

so much more experience on those lists.

Playing them away in a elimination would get ugly

We are to young and need more experience.
It feels like the never ending story, we will lose Fyfe, Walters and Aish from the squad next year and will role out with the least experienced team again next year.

Ed Allan is who we should be chasing this off season. I’d love Drizz to play that inside tagging role that JOM plays and put Allan out on the wing

Worth a shot, what do you think he's worth? If we could turn Erasmus into Allan that's a win.

How much would you give up for him?

Was pick 19, but has not shown that much so surely the most you would need to give up is a 2nd round pick hopefully only a 3rd although we would need that pick to get McVee if we get him.

I think he would provide put very good pressure on our outside mids, and be fringe best 22.

I would be happy to wait until 2026 when he is out of contract.

Other players we should look at

Starecevich as a free agent would be very handy, especially as you don't need to give up picks.
McVee is great at rebounding the ball, and solid defensively.

---Not sure how you fit them in your best 22. Both are keen to play higher up the ground, so you could get them to play the winger role.

Ah Chee - I really love the role he is doing for Brisbane. Starts at the forward flank, works back defensively. Averages 1 to 1.5 goals per game the last 2 years.

Those 3 guys have only played a few full games this season between them though.

The club is hopefully looking for another Aish/O'Meara type to come in at 25-27 and play a role but if not other than Bruce Reid all our best 25 players will have 4 or more pre-seasons under their belt and ready to peak.

Never wait…. If his keen, which we have no idea whether he is, you get it done. We’d need to pry him out before Pendles and Sidebottom retire.

If we sign a ready made HB is Luke Ryan's spot at risk next year? Turns 30 before round 1 2026 and has lost a yard of pace.

That makes no sense since they have basically not played this year at all, and hence have had no effect on our average age.

He has played with broken ribs all years, but yes he looks a slower.

Starcevich is 1.87m, McVee is 1.85m, Chapman 1.93m and interestingly Luke Ryan is only 1.86m's. He plays a lot taller.

I still think he is best 22, but this would put him under pressure.

To state the painfully obvious, we're always going to be younger in November (after the draft) than in August when the season ends.

Every year we see posters complain about delisting older players that contributed **** all season because they provide 'depth'. You'll find probably 27-30 players each season that played a decent amount of games and probably 2-3 that didn't play during injuries. The last resort tall depth is also required at times. That's what depth you keep not the guys that don't play all year. The rest of your list is to develop players not keep 'depth' that sits behind depth.

As long as the team we play round one is older than this year in round one it's fine imo. Remember we had a few best 22 players miss too btw.

If by some miracle, we got Bobby Hill, what's your forwardline next year? Is it a case of moving Reid to the midfield more to make it all work? Do we revert to two tall forwards and Darcy/Jackson?

It would create an absolutely fascinating selection choice if we pulled it off

How much of a risk is Hill considering all the rumours?

How much would you give up for him?

Do we also get Ah Chee? Is Sturt fit?

--Bolton and Reid each play 50 percent midfield time.
If we get Ah Chee, then Sturt is pushed out.

Forward Line
Bolton/Reid Treacy Ah Chee or Sturt
Switta Amiss Hill
One of Jackson or Voss

Personally I think Hill is massively over rated.

Would prefer to get Walters to personally train Dudley over the off season and get him into the best shape of his life. Dudley is a super footballer that is well off AFL fitness. Watch out if he manages to get fit cause his footy IQ is right up there.

So pushing Freddy out? Sturt is depth at this point not in consideration. Im also pretty sure Ah Chee is going nowhere. We wouldn't get both him and Hill regardless

Need to see how Dudley comes back after an off season. Def holding onto a few extra kgs atm. Hope he takes advantage of his opportunity

Murphy Reid and Bolton move higher to accommodate another small forward. I feel like Reid has more chance of being accountable than Bolton so he is more likely to squeeze into O'Meara's role than Bolton.

And I want Shai with some more space inside fifty, at the moment if he has three steps and two of them are before he gets to the footy the umpire calls holding the ball when he is tackled.

I don’t think Hill is an improvement on Frederick by any metric either. He just has a higher profile because he plays at the pies.
[/QUOTE]
No its because he won a NS in a position where a lot of small Fwds get lost on grand final day, not because he has a higher profile at the Pies what a weird take.

Seems settled over there and on the fringes of a challenging team

His Brother moved over there and lives with him, works with Clubby Sports so needs to be in Vic

Don't think he will come back
