Eddie McGuire suggested yesterday that Greg Swann isn't happy with the way the suspensions for homophobic slurs are being handled and reckons there might be a change next year.

McGuire suggested this, first offence, 2 week and 2nd offence 12 weeks.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't be against having something similar.

First offence, 2 weeks and $20 000 fine.
Second offence, 6 weeks and $40 000 fine.
Don't know- in most other workplaces you'd lose your job, so a few weeks off is pretty light. The language hasn't been acceptable in society for a long time and isn't really any different to racially abusing someone. That anyone would try to get under someones skin by attacking their sexuality/gender/race etc. is pretty piss poor and deserves to be punished.

Adelaide Crows Supporters broken down:

10.9% believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny and that the AFL really cares about Crow eaters and sandgrophers.

7.3% are the type that trip downs stairs and see a positive in that they got their real fast!

6.6% would if they are Bombers supporters, be optimistic pre-season that this is the year they will win a final.

16.1% would think Archer Reid is a fair chance of slotting one through the middle.

25.5% are definitely glass half full types, but otherwise miss the point that the glass can be refilled at anytime.

27.7% appear to be everything that Dockers supporters are not. Rational, reasonable and with vision not colour by abject failure!

5.8% prepare for the worst, so anything less bad is a fantastic result (i.e. they would say Bullies v Weagles under 100, was a pleasant surprise)

AFL must be writing an absolute essay on the Rankine decision. Seriously thought it'd be announced by now.

You'd have to be real patient to be a North fan. Trading away this years pick which'll be pick 2 or 3 for pick 27, Whitlock who's played two games this year one being subbed off and his second starting the game as sub.

And Shanahan was right there as well
They Really didn't want another duursma

Trying to massage a way to ensure he plays a prelim or granny. Only the AFL herbs and spices way of doing things!! Watch the uproar if he gets less than 4 weeks because 'here at the AFL, we feel a final has far greater worth than regular season games.'
if he does get 4 weeks or less then it proves the previous punishments were sanctimonious BS.

It proves that the AFL is hesitant to suspend important players in finals. Rankine would have got 4+ in the regular season, guaranteed.

Hey the "he's remorseful" line is getting trotted out. That means as he doesn't play for Geelong or Collingwood he's an important player for a non-vic team ie Brownlow favourite or someone the league wants playing.

They should suspend him for 8 weeks. Yes, it's a massive penalty but they've set the precedent of increasing the punishment and there is no way they can avoid reducing it to get him eligible for a grand final. So go the other way, hammer it home and make it such a deterrent that it will wake everyone up. Next one who does it gets 10 weeks.

The previous suspensions haven't sent the message well enough. Probably because it's discussed for a week and then forgotten about because who cares, the player suspended isn't noteworthy enough.

6 is the number, it's an increase and would obliterate his Finals chances.
No player wants to be rubbed out for a GF.

The fact the AFL are umming and Ahhhing and "negotiating" with Adelaide over this is a complete farce.
This has to be the absolute weakest AFL admin we have had at least since I've been alive. Whilst I disagreed with a lot of the prior administrations decisions most of the time they were decisive, they knew what they wanted to do and did it.

This bunch as softer than wet noodles and flip-flop more than Kane Cornes.
