And particularly in chads case he ain’t going to want to spend the last 5 years of his career just hoping to sneak into finals at the end of it
Pykes already stated numerous times they want progress, any old how they can get it,

As I drove around last night, I was listening to the ABC and they were discussing the Reid Minor, contract extension. They were saying that it will be a bonanza for the merchandising of the number 9 jumper, they will be flying off the shelves.

Got me thinking, how many little tackers would prefer being seen wearing the prestigious number 16 on their back. Could be interesting over the next year or two to watch, as I think that Reid Major will quietly be a marketing bonanza. He wont be rammed in our faces, his on field demeanor will do the selling.

On the eagles - lots of talk they are loading up in a weak draft. That might be true, but - it’s pick 1 and 2.
No matter how weak the draft is there will still be future elite talent in the board at pick 1 and pick 2. Even if it’s the worst draft this century (which is probably isn’t).

Loading up on a weaker draft becomes an issue if you are doing it with pick 8, 10 and 15, for example.

I think this is why he won’t necessarily be a marketing bonanza. I think he may very well make a difference but he just goes about his business doing the impossible through touch and smarts, whereas the other one is all crash, bash and flash and plays for the other mob whose supporters are their main target audience. I think the Vossy #20 is more likely to be the one that starts to fly off the Freo shelves.

You’re correct as we can’t differentiate from club to club as the culture that those players grew up in is completely different to the players now which will be different again & more accepting of what is normal for young players coming through in the future.

It opens up a conversation from a gay, bisexual players perspective which hopefully gives us all an understanding as to why it is wrong to call someone gay or similar.

The simple fact is it’s meant to be derogatory & impact the targets mental wellbeing whether they’re gay or not & in my opinion similar to racial abuse.

Culture & connection weren’t words used often back then where it was win at all costs. It’s win at all costs now, but those costs are more about education & exposing physical deficiencies rather than mental. That then exposes mental weaknesses in the opposition without specifically targetting it.
