AFL scraping fs nga and any bids in round 1 would be the best move they’ve made in a long time. FS is a stupid rule, afl fans who want to see this rule remain need to grow up.
Get back to me when you see Nic Nat's (or equivalent) kids running around for North Melbourne.

So really its the below

If this is accurate, puts a real emphasis on upgrading our second rounder/hawks pick into the Port pick GC hold to get Cummings/Schubert/Farrow.

Why does the AFL make everything so hard.

I dont have issue with NGA F/S.

Would it not be easier if they just make a club pay a **** off premium where they question themselves should we even bid?

Clubs to still invest in the development of kids and if a club really believe they have a kid thats worth it they go for it or just do an open draft and no one gets shit, it is getting to complicated.

Agree with this. Fundamentally that should be our only move in this year's trade period - Walk away with Sharp, Duursma and Cumming / Lindsay / Grlj.

Use our later picks for experienced (rock hard) bodies.

Anything we trade with Ryan I'd hope is in next year's draft hand, or we hold him.

I’d prefer this, but I think on list balance we’ll grab a tall. I’m guessing we’ll go cdt and Duursma then trade up to 7 and hopefully get cumming or sharp. Otherwise Schubert at 7 and Duursma/Sharp at 1 and 2

I've also got our second round pick landing at 23 in the open draft after compensations for Allen, De Koning, Draper and Worpel. Annable, Uwland, Patterson, King, Dean and Addinsall are all likely to go in the first round. By the time we get towards the end of the first round, bids likely come in for Sweid and McCarthy as well. I've potentially missed some but that puts our pick at 30 again. As far as removing picks goes, it is possible that those clubs involved have picks that get eaten up but more than likely they get sold, preserving those picks in the draft order. The Suns and Lions, in particular, have strong motivation to get involved in deals with us, Richmond and Essendon to push bids on their players down the order, saving them points without having to bring points in. The second round is where a heap of picks will get eaten up.
I had Worpel and JSOS comp end of second round, but no bid on Addinsall in the first, I lean closer to Coulson but likely starting in the second round, Sweid maybe pushing first round with recent performances.

Point being I do agree with what you’re saying but mathematically the Suns at least will have to keep 2 first rounders unless they can get mammoth hauls of second round picks, which like you said would have a heap of picks getting eaten up. I personally don’t have a probably with it if the first round blows out to say, high 20s picks, but the second round is only made up of 15 or so selections. Either way you’re ending up with less picks in the first 2 rounds, and given the eagles track record, I don’t know if we’ll keep second rounders but I trust ol’ Matty Clarke with those than firsts

This is going to sound weird but i have rodriguez as a sam mitchell/sanders from wbd comp, i still very much would like to take frod

Oskar Taylor looks good as a Josh Lindsay substitute on the cheap(er).

Really good left foot and speed that he frequently puts to good use

Was mentioned on Gettable that North with their two 2nd rounders seem to be the one going hardest for Port’s first round pick (which belongs to GC).

Feels like we’d need to use a combo that includes the Hawks first to beat that.

It really is a straightforward trade for that and Davies with our Hawks R1 and later picks

Davies 850pa for 4 years ✅
+700 points ✅
No bids ✅

They'd have to include their F1 as part of the offer.

Feels like any deal we offer gc can also be improved by 1341 points by assuring them of no bids with pick 1 or 2. If we actually swing our dick around like we should I can't see North's offer being better unless they're dumb enough to include their F1.

So yeah North's offer might be better.

Cal is getting excited by a 200cm guy with a crumbing goal and a few joe the goose. He might as well be watching football blind.

50% premium for top 10, 25% for rest of 1st round, no premium after that.

Carlton's pick 9 they receive for TDK Compensation should be up for grabs as well with Harry Dean likely bid in around this point. Could be an option to trade in on as well with them needing around 1240pts (WC Pick 19 and 30) to match the bid without sacrificing the Hawks 1st Rounder. Would give us 1,2,11 & 14.

Saying all that the GC option is the way to go if we can land Davies in as well (if he would consider heading across). Would we consider going all in with a future pick option to save pick 14?

Right now GC need roughly 4,450pts if the three go at 2,5 and 23 as an estimate. This shoots to

Will be interesting to see if Sydney look to offload their pick 10 or gamble that King doesn't get bid on till later

Locking out the first round is kind of being half pregnant.

Either be done with them altogether or make clubs pay a higher above fair price.

I Wonder if you could give clubs an incentive to bid so that players are at least taken where they should. Maybe Extra points to play with the following year.

Which is why I say a 50% top 10 surcharge.

4500 pts for a pick 1 bid will require a few high picks to use to match the bid.

It does sound a little weird, because frod is an odd name.

Seriously, though. I would gladly take him with our 2nd round pick.
