Since it’s a real possibility that we may take CDT.
Does he have that match winning ability? To do something mecurial and change the game. Take a speccy or kick a flukey goal.
Or is he just a good all round footballer that works hard and is pretty aggressive around the ball?
Any player comparisons?

The CDT conundrum

What makes a 200 cm player so unique?

He is good below his knees for a ruckman

However, some downsides.

Not a great ruck - undersized without a massive leap
Not a great mark - considered average when compared to Shanahan
Not even the best KPF in the draft - Schubert by a distance for me

If I did a split with the Dons for 1 and CDT was still there at 6, I would not pick him.

Please please let another club fall in love with him and make The Aron an offer we cannot refuse

Go back and watch his VFL goals. He is more a Peter Wright replacement who is good at ground level

Or if they don't come for the pick...just don't take him and watch him slide. Tigers might snap him up with one of there picks but I doubt it. Dons might too depending how many talls leave the club this year.

Still maintain our "reported" interest in CDT is merely to lure in desperate Vic clubs who are really keen to get a great deal for 1 or 2.

Any extra insight or just a gut feel

Hope your right either way

Guys the Eagles love CDT, this talk of the club feigning interest in him so they can create a bidding war for pick 2 is made up by the people who are in love with Greg Clark....I mean Dyson Sharp

Wrong Phill mate 🙂

Nothing but respect for Pant

Also, share the same thoughts as most on the other Phil (always have said you couldn't trust a Phil with 1x L)

I'm definitely not in love with Sharp, I prefer Cumming and still think Sharp slides. However at this stage Duursma is definitely going pick 1 so Sharp matches better with him than Cumming. Would happily take Cumming at 2 though.

Would it make sense to take Duursma and Cumming with the first two picks, hope Sharp is still on the board at our next pick (we'd have to trade up obviously) but take Greeves if he's gone?

Greg Clarke's junior career didn't have the accolades or consistency of sharps. It took Clark 6yrs at WAFL level to make an impact. Apple oranges

If we keep one and two we really need to address the midfield and Sharp is a good candidate for that. Duursma is a no brainer at 1, looks a real talent and I think once the muscle comes on he'll be a really quality player.

If we were to draft Duursma, Cumming, and then a Farrow/NHH type with our first 3 picks, and added one Erasmus/Dev type mid for depth, do we think the midfield is "complete" enough?

Would be relying on Allan/Hall to fill some of the big bodied defensive mid eventually(which I dont see a problem with), but we may lack a typical accumulator inside mid(which I also dont see a huge problem with, Sydneys midfield is a decent comparison)

Some mix of Reid, Hewett, Cumming, Duursma, Allan, Gross and Hall as our main young midfield rotation for 2028?
With McCarthy around somewhere too

We aren’t going to rocket up the ladder so maybe that’s what we target next year as I’d say we will have a top 5 pick.

All the Mids from this year will have an extra year of development so we should have a better idea on what we need to compliment them. How well will Hall come with more size and another pre season.

Hard to plan for next year so early, but imo its fair to say we have all the necessary bases covered with this mix.

All of them should be able to regularly go 20+ touches, most of them can rotate into other positions, some are offensive, some are defensive, etc.

Ive been saying all along that we dont know what we have, so we dont really know if we NEED a guy like Sharp at this stage, Mini might not really want Sharp either

Good write up about G Stumpf, eaglevision in the season review of Coates Talent League club Northern Knights.
Big come from behind victory to Northern Knights over Dandenong with 2 goals in the 4th quarter to G Stumpf.
Over ager Stumpf was the best of a few over agers, especially after a shift to defence which saw him average 17.6 disposals, 5.6 marks in 15 games.

This player would be great addition to our side as a developing KPD, his testing results at the combine were the best for 20m sprint and he has a fantastic vertical jump.
If we are chasing a solid KPD option with elite athleticism he would be a standout.
Probably a slower developer but his traits and athleticism are unique.
I would either pick him up as a rookie or have him and Blight train on for an SSP spot?

Duursma & Sharp does seem like the most logical option to take.

Sharp seems to be rated around 3 atm (and is such a need for us).

Cumming may slide a little due to his injury and not going to the combine. Some club will probably get a bargain there.

Good to hear the club may not be locked into CDT.

Is this another of your speculative guesses? Loving the way you write as if you are actually reporting with any knowledge what so ever.

Personally, I will stick to saying what I would like or very occasionally my network provides crumbs.

Also not with you placing Sharp and Clark in the same mold. Likewise Sharp is not a Yeo comparison but he would make a great pairing with Harley and Cumming as a midfield trio.

What’s a more preferable option:
1: Duursma/Sharp
2: Cumming/Sharp/Schubert if you did 1 and some change for 5/6

If we keep one and two we really need to address the midfield and Sharp is a good candidate for that. Duursma is a no brainer at 1, looks a real talent and I think once the muscle comes on he'll be a really quality player.
Any inclination on Duursma's being 'homesick' or happy to move interstate?
