Mobile 'Ruck' with poor shot on goal who can't ruck and not a great mark. Why are we spending a first round pick on Bailey Williams?
I get that the bust potential is higher on him than maybe some other options, but a few pages ago someone posted an amalgamation of rankings from people or websites whose literal job it is to watch draft-eligible prospects play and then rate them. If a guy can’t ruck, can’t jump, has a bad set shot and lousy hands, I can’t imagine that he is getting ranked anywhere from 2nd to 5th best prospect.

Same with Dyson Sharp, who despite being ranked anywhere from 2nd to 9th drew a Greg Clark comparison a couple of pages ago.

That was impressive stuff from Robey. Disposal didn't look great early, but improved significantly as the game went on. Looks a great athlete.

Would be interesting to see how sharp would have performed if he'd spent the second half of the year creaming other U18s instead of playing league.

If he was playing talent league this year he would have posted absolute monster numbers, a very weak year in the CTL. Probably would have had a game with 15 clearances and 15 tackles etc.

Robey makes for good highlights. He is powerful but at the very best average disposal and I would say poor decision making. Someone will bite but I see him at R3+ and I wouldn't draft him.

If Chesser goes then Eagles should change their top two selections.

I'd relectantly forgo sharp.. and bring in the run of duursma and grilj pick 1 and 2

We can pick up contested players later in the first round should we be able to upgrade our selections

Statistically a quieter game from Willem but he was significantly limited by the circumstances and conditions of the contest. About as wind effected a game as you'll see outside of Williamstown, strongly favouring one end of the ground. Gippsland tried to use Duursma strategically, playing him onball when they were against the wind in Q1 and Q3, and mostly deep forward in Q2 and Q4. The problem with this strategy was that the wind was so wild that getting any kind of structured or accurate penetration of the F50 was nearly impossible, and so Willem was left to fight for scraps in the F50 which he did well but it restricted his overall impact on the contest. He still managed to snag a couple of goals, the last of which sealed a hard fought win for the Power.

Grlj isn't a top 2 pick. Would be better off going Cumming.

You are honestly comparing an 18 yo kid with a 7 year AFL veteran who happens to be perhaps the worst 90 game player in the history of WCE. Even now, he'd be better than BW.

My post is obviously tongue in cheek. Point stands though that we have players that aren't overly good ruckmen who can play forward. Why would we draft another.

No, you prioritise the better player. Grlj's projected to go around pick 10/11 currently. You don't reach that far for a bloke who can 'run'.
And if you really want a runner to cement a wing position take Jack Dalton.
Disagree.. the lack of speed and run from our mids is our biggest Achilles heel.. even more so than contested ball

We'll be able to find a contested ball pig between 10 and 20... And the gun speedsters will be gone by then

You don't reach for lower rated players because they can run fast. You pick the best footballers with the highest picks.

Averaging 33.5 disposals and 2.5 goals the last 2 weeks after just transitioning to midfield and has a huge frame and not worth a look in?

If he keeps this up he could go top 5

No one knows for about 3 years who the better player will be... Just draft for attributes they are good at at the moment... And what we need

That's just guessing based on one attribute.

Sure, he's quick. He doesn't get the ball much though. Juniors who struggle to find the ball don't suddenly get good at it at AFL level.

Drafting for 'attributes' is how you screw your list.

Just pick the best footballers,

That's all subjective based on who is rating them right now... There is a consensus top ten(ish) I guess.

With Chesser going we are more cooked than ever with lack of speed... Your argument would be more valid if I'd offered some pleb to be part of the top 2

I doubt Grilj will make it past Richmond's picks... Duursma already a no brainer

Yesterday was so windy, all stats from yesterday should take that into account.

Greeves was huge in the opening term, driving his team forwards with incisive and attacking play, and kicking a couple of goals as Eastern jumped out to a big lead. He was quieter after his hot start, playing more forward than mid and eventually sitting out most of the fourth quarter on the bench, perhaps the coaching staff resting their star player with victory secured.

Despite some ranking lists having him lower, Greeves looks every bit the top 10 pick to me and has impressed through the second half of the season. His move forward to make space for others like Robey through midfield has shown his versatility and how impactful he can be down there with his marking especially impactful. While he's still not a defensive demon by any means, he's shown clear signs in recent weeks that he's focusing on that side of the game which demonstrates a willingness to improve areas of weakness.

Would not be unhappy at all if we ended up picking him. Similar sort of a player to Sharp. Who do you have ahead out of the two noobermensch?

Greeves definitely more physically developed. Looks a tad slower? But his kicking looks arguably better? Sharp's defensive pressure and tackling seems a notch above I would have thought but
