I wouldnt mind Robey, massive body, good pace, makes hard contact in bumps and tackles, good over head, kicking isnt anywhere near as bad as people think, he a yeo replacement sitting there.

If i was the club that had 5,6,7 and F1 no way I'd trade that for 1 and 2
Its all guesswork and I am just putting out my ideal scenario.

If Essendon want Duursma by any means necessary, and if the rumours are true, with Zane requesting a trade.

We won't know until it gets into the silly season. I just hope that Bombers, Richmond, and probably Carlton have tunnel vision for Duursma/CDT and will pay a premium to secure them.

I say this knowing full well no one paid the asking price when we had Reid at #1, and it is unlikely no one will pay the premium for Duursma/CDT either.

Draft watchers better than me would be able to determine what is realistic or not.

I have a feeling no one offered the value they thought it was worth because they expected the Eagles were desperate to sell. If you had #1, you had to take Reid - that was clear, but they probably expected the Eagles were listening to the rumours and wouldn't want him. Thus they thought #1 was a buyer's market. Hence things like Norf offering a grab bag of pointless picks.

If they'd realised the Eagles were genuinely prepared to take Harley, they may have made different - and better - offers.

Nah, Melbourne made a legit offer, it was only north and hawthorn who were playing silly buggers.

I think we take Sharp, Duursma, and then just BPA at whatever our third pick lands. I’d like a LeRay or Barker to settle on a wing but could also go for a Noah Hibbens, Marsh, Grlj if he falls, even Oudshoorn-Bennier as a classy midfielder
Watching the highlights of sharp and grjl this evening I've got to disagree...

Both tough as nails however grjl moves way better... More translatable to modern AFL.
In my opinion getting an experienced inside mid like Neale or Steele is better than drafting sharp at this stage and expecting miracles from him in his first year

Do you seriously expect an 18 or 19 year inside mid to burn it up in years 1 and 2?

Can you name draftees in the last decade to do that from get go?

Yeh nah. Sharp is a 10year player of similar ilk to Dunkley. Dunkley is the defensive mid who gives Neale and the rest of the lions mids the space and opportunity to clear the ball out of stoppages. Without Dunkley, Neale doesn't win a Brownlow.

Similar to Yeo..but Yeo is cooked. Sharp is our Yeo replacement.

Hawthorn seem to have it in for us the last few years. The new BODE's. Trying to stooge us in the Barrass trade, meeting with Allen mid-season, throwing stupid money at Harley.

Lol. we aren't drafting to play finals next year, we are drafting to make finals in 3 years time, and to win a flag in 2030. Neale is long gone by that stage.

Placing Sharp alongside Neale/Steele to learn would be ideal.

Disagree with Futbolista rankings, but he's now got Banfield at 4 in WA rankings.

1-Fred Rodriguez (SF)
2-Sam Swadling (WP)
3-Toby Whan (SF)
4-Charlie Banfield (CL/PSA)
5-Jacob Farrow (WP)
6-Koby Evans (P)
7-Cody Curtin (CL)
8-Kaiden Summerell (EF)
9-Dale Sutherland (P)
10-Luke Hallett (EP/PSA)

Trade 1 & 2 to Essendon get 5, 6, 7 and F1

Sharp, Schubert and Cumming.

2026, Cochrane & Robinson please.

Robinson's kicking efficiency is a serious weakness. I know he's inside, and it was terrible weather over the weekend, but he struggled to hit a target against East Fremantle.

If Chesser was staying I'd agree with taking sharp probably

But now we just need elite runners who can play whatever game plan the coach is trying to currently implement... We got torched on transition soo bad this year it was pathetic

If that was Fremantle's draft, then they should move on a young mid.

Yeah sorry, wrong thread. But yes did a mock and that’s what I ended up taking for Freo. Hetherton and Thredgold were interestingly still available after closing it off at pick 60. WCE draft was:

IN:
#1: Dyson Sharp
#2: Willem Duursma
#7: Aiden Schubert
#35: Sam Ainsworth
#55: Taj Murray
#73: Tylah Williams (Bid match)
Cat A: Charlie Banfield
Cat B: Koby Evans, Wes Walley
Alex Davies

OUT:
Oscar Allen (FA) for #2
Campbell Chesser for #35
Picks #15,24,34 for #7 and Alex Davies

This looks like the weakest WA crop in a while?
Evans being injured and Walley not being sighted hasn't helped.
Is it looking a bit better next season?

Thats surprising, I think that Blake Threadgold might be a surprise pick much earlier in the draft.

There is a real shortage of KPD in this cohort and Blake Threadgold didn't put a foot wrong at the Championships, once he came into the team.

He wins his one on one contests and whilst he isn't a star by any means he was pretty effective at the Champs.

One of those kids who doesn't appear elite in any facet of the game, however does all things well.

At 194 cm his height might be an issue, thats the only query I see on him.

You don't reach for lower rated players because they can run fast. You pick the best footballers with the highest picks.
Whoever we pick has to be the best available player to fill our particular need. We need players with a high footy IQ and not athletes.
