Absolutely no doubt that clubs will come for Pick 1 and 2 and probably with all sorts of unreasonable proposals. They would smell blood and fair enough too. Same as at the trade table, no doubt clubs will try and low ball us for the exact reason why they wouldn’t dare against Geelong.

I would expect (hope) we’ve learnt our lessons and attack this period with more direction, preparation and strength.

It's not the draft that I am worried about, it trade week that scares the shit out of me.

Matt Clarke finalising trade week, just as Don Pyke walks in to assess the Cluster ****.

Then see below - Matt Clarke walking into the meeting with the recruiting team after he has completed the trade week.

Be interesting to see who the teams are and what the offer is, only Richmond or Essendon seem to have the capital?
I mean we traded pick 3 for 12 and 14 last year so I think you may be overestimating what the required capital is

Don't think we'll make the same mistake

We promised Baker and then Clarke put the value on his head. Hawks moved first and we had no choice to split with Carlton.

You’d think Merrett has to be moved on after this. No way the Bombers didn’t approve every single word that's been published and pretty damning from a senior player in Redman.

9, 23 and F1 for Merrett, F2 and a fringe player. Would increase the chance of Essendon making a play for pick 1 or 2 significantly.

Who's paying this for Merrett in this scenario?

Absolute Dog. Was always the first to publicly slam his teammates when they missed finals. Now he wants to bail when the team he leads isn't performing.
He also said that time that list sizes should reduce (his teammates lose their jobs) so the top players in each team (him) could be paid more.

As long as it isn't us, I'm fine. Seems like a terrifically shit teammate and bloke.

I'm annoyed, coz I was hoping eaglevision was going to say us and I had preloaded "I'd rather watch bombard eat his own shit than have that hair pulling bitch on my team".

Merrett as a bloke was dead to me that day. Nic dealt with it appropriately.

Absolute Dog.
Sorry mate. Gotta query this.

Aren’t dogs renowned for loyalty to a fault and loving their owners unconditionally ?

Maybe old mate Merrett is more cat like. Flaky and self interested.

Just a thought, have a nice day

Lol just spoke to my Bombers fan old man about the Merrett situation and he's lost the plot.

Reckons Essendon would be better off making him go into the draft instead of facilitating a trade, forgoing any compensation out of spite. Would rather they get absolutely nothing than the minimum 2 first rounders that he would be guaranteed to generate.

I reminded him Essendon are in fact at the bottom of the ladder and probably can't afford to lose their best player for 0 return. "Don't care - need to show the younger players that trade requests under contract won't be tolerated".

Supreme melt. I genuinely hope that fan base never gets to experience success as they truly deserve it.

He’s a grub and thoroughly unlikeable

Would be a perfect fit at Hawthorn

I think Duursma, CDT, Annable, Uwland, Patterson are the clear top 5 prospects in the draft.
All of them have had influential games in the VFL as an 18 year old.

Given the last three are all academy-linked, Duursma and CDT 1 & 2 is the play.

This would mean that Sharp almost certainly goes to the Tigers with pick 6 or 7.
CDT played ONE VFL game. 13 touches 6 hitouts, 2 marks 3 goals 2.

Sold.

Hawthorn.
I bet they throw in Cam McKenzie as part of the trade. I can see Mitchell reassuring McKenzie he's a required player, but knifing him in the back at the last minute as trade value. If you think about it, they made a play for Harley and we would've asked for players back. They tried butters and he said no too. Now they having a throw at the stumps at Merrett.

Surely Hawthorn have cooked any/every relationship with other clubs the way they've gone about it this year.

Poaching kent's left right and centre, meeting with players publicly, making a spectacle.. grub tactics from Sam.

Not expecting a reasonable transaction for S.Butler, that's for sure.

Never mind the fact he wants to get rid of some of his team mates so he can earn more, dipstick of the first order.

Hey now, enough of that! I am a cat lover - the most biologically developed land animal on the planet, according to science.

I know our sample size is really small, but last years draft suggested that Duane Massey doesn't try to outsmart other recruiters in the way Rohan O'Brien. Took the sensible picks when they presented themselves, rather than the half back with midfield potential who was highly rated as an under-16.

If we keep 1 & 2, we're probably going Duursma & CDT.
If we trade out one of those picks, I'd bet we still take CDT because no one else in the draft comes with his skillset. Meanwhile if we miss out on Duursma, there's a few mids who would be handy in our side with a later pick.
Duursma is a flanker with midfield potential…

Honestly the recruitment/scouting team should just get in the bin.

Just use a hybrid combination of Cal's form guide each year/whatever suits your list needs best and voila... Sorted, BF nuffies stay happy.
One of our biggest list needs is a long term ruckman.
Cal has CDT as the #1 highest rated player in the open pool ✅
CDT is a ruckman ✅
We have another pick to take the best available pure mid (our other major list need).

Wish CDT would just **** off.

We are totally getting that dopey campaigner aren't we.

My turn to wet the pantaloons gaiz 😣
BF nuffies will never be happy…
