For anyone interested, had PommyinOz on last night to go through his round 1 mock draft, it was good to get a non Richmond perspective and reasoning for our picks.

Draft stuff starts from around 11:35 mark of the video.

I'm keen to speak to as many people as possible with their mock drafts as there is so much variation out there which is fascinating. If you're keen to jump on for a live chat to share your mock draft, let me know and we can organise a time.

These guys have been putting draft stuff out recently - maybe use their contact page to get in touch??

Thanks heaps! I have reached out to them now, appreciate the heads up!

Some pretty incoherent choices in there tbh.

Duff-Tytler being selected at CHF is downright idiotic. The kid played three regular Talent League games for the year and kicked 5 goals in total.

Further, whoever was on the selection panel and decided to leave Tom Evans out of the starting back 6 needs to be moved on for next year. That's just hugely embarrassing. I think he was categorically better than Lindsay or Fincher this year and he had more total disposals than both of them combined this season at Talent League.

Riley Onley (who I really rate) only played two games total (rounds 1 and 2) averaging 25.5 disposals and yet is named as the starting centre. There is no way he should be selected for the Coates Talent team of the year.

This is overall just a really really poor attempt by the selectors and should be instantly dismissed by anyone with a modicum of understanding about this league.

Not a big fan of Grlj being picked at HBF despite playing mid for oakleigh all year?

Like the AA team this year, feels like the narrative more important than actual performance

Played seven games (of a total 17 games played by Oakleigh) and averaged 20.3 disposals.
Not the worst selection on the team but still definitely a selection based on narrative, as you say, rather than on actual performance.

Riley Onley still the most indefensible. How do you select a player who plays two games (both of which the Bushrangers lost) out of a total of 16 games?

Onley wasn’t very good in those games either

Its a completely baffling choice. There's simply no justification for his selection in this team no matter how you look at it.

Out of interest where would Cooper Duff Tyler have rated in the 2024 draft? For me he has Josh Schache vibes.

I think he still would’ve been top 8/10 considering it’s not his production that has people fawning it’s the potential and the athletic traits

What's the knock on Brodie Atkins? Just won the morrish medal but I haven't seem any talk on him. Would love some insight
Is a very decent mid but has no stand out attributes. He's not quick, he's not an absolute bull at the contest (and he's only 181cm), he's not an elite kick and he's not a prolific up forward. He average 23 disposals in the best team during the season.
He's a poor man's Sanders.

Thanks mate, seems like he is a good player, just lacking certain attributes to make him a great player. Does he get drafted? Or are his deficiencies too great for him to overcome?

it was like Cody Walker being named the rising star for his local clubs senior competition

he played one senior game for the year.... its all about name and attention

Dovaston again showing why he is the premium small forward in this draft with 2 goals to half time for the ranges. Surprised he isn’t spoken about more as a top 10 pick. I’d have him above Kako from last year.

Robey, Greeves and X.Taylor showing plenty too. Robey not getting as much midfield time this week.

Rory Wright the stand out for Sandy so far.
