Jess Hosking just put up an insta post announcing her retirement. I wonder if she was holding out hope that she would somehow be named with the injury crisis, and now that final teams have dropped she's pulled the pin? Or could be something totally unrelated I guess (presumably she hasn't been at training etc., so would have been unlikely!) But just thought the timing was interesting...anyway I guess her Eagles footy story can be put to rest for now.

Surely a player who hasn’t been training with the club wouldn’t be expecting to suddenly get a call up to play, but if she somehow was hoping that then not being named ahead of a player with something like glandular fever (Bakker) and another who is on crutches (McGrath) certainly would have made it clear.

One of the first comments I saw on her Insta post said something like “keep being a great role model to everyone” and uhhhhhhhhhhh …..

Wonder if her case got resolved?

Wonder if her case got resolved?

Such a shame with how everything finished up with her here. Considering like 80% of our list is like 21 and under we could take any experienced body we can get out around the younger players right now.

Heard literally nothing about that 'exploring her legal options' from that Eliza Reilly tweet like four months ago. Maybe that's why they didn't get a replacement player incase she took the club for a wrongful termination case and won 🤷‍♂️

Oh well, hope Daisy flexes her 'I'm Daisy Pearce' muscle in the off season and we can get a couple experienced players to fill the void.

Confirmation that Smith and Kavanagh are the other ins.

Tell ya what, don't love our injury situation but it is a nice sign of our depth that these ins are all genuinely exciting.

Johnson will hopefully be great for us going forward, she was awesome in the praccy and should give us more flexibility with Rowley/Rentsch/even Thomas being able to play mid.

Smith was 3rd in our BnF two seasons ago (last season she played) and have been wanting to get a good look at how she's bounced back from injury/what her role will be going forward (will she push up to the wing, play a bit of defensive forward even? Unsure that she, Johnson, Swanson and Thomas all fit in the same backline when Swanny returns so bit of an audition this week)

Kavanagh was stiff to get dropped after one debut game, and coming back from an ACL needs game time and confidence, she's probably the most negatively impacted by not having a 2's side to play in IMO. So while Painter being out sucks, hopefully Kayley can get some midfield time - would love another contested mid to step up in our list.

It's not often you feel like you're both scraping the bottom of the barrel and at the same time are legitimately excited for every in. Keen for tomorrow!

Suns leading the Crows 28-13 at 3QT (4.4 to 1.7)

Crows currently on a 37-0 run in the last quarter and are now up by 22 points. This is like another sport entirely watching them when they’re in full flight like this.

God, I hope we have her around with us long term.

Great call from Pyke: she's an easily deserved Hall of Famer already, thing that'll get her elevated to Legend status will be winning flags coaching West Coast.

God I hope she does, not just as a supporter of the club but for her as a person and women's footy in general, she's a pretty humble figurehead for the game but still does it so well, you can tell she's the face of the game for girls who are looking to get drafted or just getting into the game as teens/young adults in general.

Bella Lewis a test for this week. Painter still a week away with concussion. Bakker and McGrath both 2 weeks away.

Painter being out a second week is worrying, if for no other reason than concussion outs which last beyond the standard week can occasionally blow out to much longer and more significant issues.

Swanson in, Hooker named on a wing (although confusingly the club’s article suggests she’s not a definite in) and Boyd on the extended bench.

Bushby and Dalgleish also on the extended bench, presumably they’re both pretty safe. Drennan, Kavanagh, Smith, Franklin and Roux also on the bench.

With the Painter concussion they did say she had turned the corner but it was mid week so just too late to be considered to play, should full train and be available next week.

Excellent win overcoming illness and a bunch of good players out.

Hopefully Painter is back next week and everyone is over the flu.

Would think that a home game vs Collingwood is a must-win with some tough matches (adelaide, vs Geelong, SYDNEY, vs Carlton) to follow.
