2025 AFL Draft and Trade Dates:

Fri Oct 3 - Fri Oct 10: 2025 Free Agency Period
Mon Oct 6 - Wed Oct 15: 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period
Wed Nov 19 - Thu Nov 20: 2025 Telstra AFL Draft

St Kilda genuinely wants to keep Marshall. If they do trade they want 1st round pick as they are still chasing Freijah and a 2nd round for Ryan
No disrespect but I'm comfortable backing my source on this one. Marshall will get to Geelong.

Will leave it before I'm tempted to blurt anything else out, but I think we'll hear a bit more on this into next week, and it will conveniently be stage managed to get announced very late on the last day.

I can very easily see Saints keeping Marshall to his contract, so unless relationships have broken down like Oliver not sure what's in it for Saints in letting him go,? If Saints don't need the cap space I could see them selling him try it for a year and see how it goes.

The talk is though they need that first round for other trades

And this could be why we had minimal interest - public at least, in Trac

Ask around with people connected to Melbourne and they'll gladly tell you that Petracca is very much about brand Petracca, and for a player of his standing, is not regarded as a great role model or leader for younger players at the club. Very much about himself, and is known for regularly straining relationships with others at the club.

Petulant and entitled are terms used to describe his behaviour.

Explained to me that cap space is definitely one issue and the Saints were prepared for a few noses to be out of joint with the current playing list if they were aggressive in what they offered others to join the club. Publicly they're saying they want him to stay, but behind closed doors would be ok to a trade as it helps offset the cap pressure after a few new players come in (TDK / Aleer / Silvagni etc and the increased contracts for NWM, Wilkie and Windhager.

The other issue mentioned was that as a senior player at the club (albeit not in the leadership group) he found out about the TDK negotiations second hand, and the club has been very vague about his role, and how TDK impact that from next season.

He'll be at Geelong barring current position between both clubs completely imploding.

Now that Ross is in complete charge at StKilda and knowing his good relationship with Chris Scott.
I expect this trade to be done in the right way.

If Steele goes i actually think its more likely they hold marshall. Im ok with that so long as we get another ruck. I bet marshall isnt ok with it though.

That's no surprise.i will be interested to see which ruck we get instead.
We do this dance every year. If Stanley re-signs, as has been suggested, we won't get another ruck.

Which year did we do the dance in where blitz was 35? I must have missed that.

That's very true, but I think that history did prove the list management choices largely correct.

We could have done with SJ in the 2016 prelim final, but he did go on a year too long in the end.
As much as I'm a sentimentalist, I actually didn't have a problem with the list decisions that were made. I was simply pointing out that at least some of the players involved had real problems with the decisions that were made.

To suggest that players who were cut or moved on didn't have any hard feelings simply cannot be true, given the shared history and the egos involved.

If he re-signs?

It was already announced that he had re-signed, was released at the same time Knevitt's re-signing was announced

I wonder if we would have still gone for Worpel if we had have known Clarry would be available at virtually the same price..🤔

Personally, If I had to choose one, I'd go with Clarry without a doubt. He is a great accumulator, and I still think there's a chance he could get back to his A grade best in the right environment. Definitely has more upside.

I doubt we will go for him now that we have Worpel, as they both are quite similar players without great disposal. Or, should we still have a crack? We obviously rate him highly if we were willing to pay him 1 million a year over 6 last off season..

Thoughts?
