There’s some key differences. You dressing up as a Sydney Sweeney isn’t likely to be interpreted as having any meaningful social commentary. Safe to assume you and her don’t know each other, she’s not going to be aware you did it and no one in her industry circles are going to know or care that you did even if you were doing it in a mean-spirited way (I’m sure you weren’t).

Holmes dressing up as Caro hits all those things. They know each other or at least know of each other. All his teammates know her/of her. All her colleagues and AFL public observing know her and him. The media are routinely invited to come down and see the players arrive in their costumes. There is expectation that the public will see it.

This doesn’t automatically make it a negative thing. He just needs to be careful to do so respectfully. Apparently he texted her to inform her he’d be dressing up as her (not sure if permission was sought or approval given) so he was on the right path at least.

The issue of misogyny comes from him being photoed dressed as her and then having a caption about how Caro has never looked better (…than a man in low effort drag) shared publicly - I think this might have been Bailey’s doing rather than Max though.

Women in our society and particularly within public facing industries like the media have way more unnecessary scrutiny on their appearances than their male counterparts. It is 100% misogyny to belittle Caro on the basis of her appearance. I’m sure Caro has a thick skin for this type of criticism but there are plenty of other women in the industry that would be - and I know for a fact are impacted seeing this type of thing happen again and again, then brushed off as “just a bit of light hearted fun” or “boys being boys”.

Hope that didn’t come across as preachy or anything. Just trying to share some perspective that I’ve come to understand myself.

Roberts had a good year. Could’ve easily finished top 3 in the rising star imo but the fact his team was utter trash did him no favours.

It is odd. I can see the CEO's focus of Bassat in not accepting mediocrity, determined to drag St Kilda up the ladder to a premiership window, and then, presumably with his imprimatur, they go out and aggressively pay a fortune for...a battling small backman and a middling ruckman.

It's finally happening!

This may actually stop them from recruiting JUH or Clayton Oliver. There's zero chance they can take the risk from a public image perspective now.

I adored this year's Lions premiership, almost like it was a Hawthorn victory. It was like the classic babyface surprisingly vanquishing the dastardly heel and holding on to his championship in the main event of Wrestlemania, when everybody expected it was (unfortunately) the villains time.
