Next minute, Brady, “Yeah look pick 39 was the highest pick the Pies had and we’ll look to get something back from Collingwood in the coming years, I’m sure. Look we weren’t wrapt that we are also paying half of Jy’s wage, but again, we try and be fair with our dealings, it’s a small industry”.

It's actually wild how obvious that the afl is with its preferential treatment of some teams. Change that rule out of the blue, for no logical reason, at short notice.
Then all of a sudden pies are loaded up to make an offer on someone, and cats do... That

Agree. Absolute madness. Collingwood have nothing that will benefit us.
I'd do a future first from the pies. Worst case they win the flag and we get an extra first rounder before Tassie comes in. Gives us flexibility to move up the draft board before bids for McCartney (hopefully) and Harris.

Or pies miss finals and we go in with 2 top 10 picks if McCartney and Harris end up being second round picks.

Chance to get potentially 4 gun 18 year olds.

Sadly i don't think we have as much leverage with Jy versus what others on here might think. Why? Collingwood is the ONLY club to publicly express an interest in him.
He's an average player on an overpriced contract.
Good thing he's contracted for another 4 years then 🤣

I think they are unlikely to give up a F1 without getting something significant in return or us taking on a good portion of the salary. I can’t see a deal getting done.

I like Ed Allan but I think I’d prefer Harvey Harrison who would slot perfectly in the Wing/HF role.

With bids coming for McCartney and Harris next year maybe a deal could like like

North: Jy Simpkin, 2026 F2, 2027 F4

Collingwood: Harvey Harrison, 2027 F1, 2026 F3
That would be a Brady deal.
Our 2nd in 26 likely to be mid 20s and Jy for 27 F1 and unknown player likely mid 20s pick or later with Tassie coming in.

Perhaps we on trade their F1 to another club for a player and / or a pick this year?
I'd trade that Pies 2027 R2 to Port for their R2 (29) this year, given they have three NGA's in 2027.
Then package up one R2 (25, 26, 29) with that Pies 2026 R1 to get GC 6 or 7 or Blues pick 10 (F3 comes back?).
You bring a kid in the top 10 of positional need like Schubert/Dovaston/X Taylor/Farrow and keep two R2's.
Then 44 can be shifted into the future with a team needing some extra points.

I could see Jy pushing hard to make this happen. Playing in front of big crowds. Playing finals. Getting eyeballs on his Insta and fashion interests. If he makes things untenable then we lose bargaining power.

87,000 people going "oooh" when he does his sidestep instead of 12 will be a huge factor I reckon.

I just dont buy into the fact we need to replace him with something that shows us immediate benefit in 2026. This is the benefit we see with Jy going:

  • Sheezel more midfield minutes
  • Duursma more opportunity as a half forward (Needs to happen)
  • Sheezel captain - fresh face of the club
  • More opportunity for FOS and Colby in the middle
  • Potential to see Urquhart at some point throughout the year
  • Another draft asset coming in

I would much rather have picks say 8 and 10 in the 2026 draft than have a pick at the back end of the first round of this draft.
