For some reason this talk gave me a random Oliver memory of when he flopped against the eagles in 2017 and people were obvs calling it out, then he changed his profile pic on insta to him in a neck brace. The run in with the Carlton fan was also amusing.

Pretty sure he wasn't in a neck brace but just put a bunch of maxipads around his head lol.

We know, mate.

Alright just watched all videos of draftees around picks 7/8 in power rankings. **** they look shit compared to other years.

Aidan Schubert: Looks like a clumsier Jefferson, avoid
Sam Cumming:
Looks like Rhys Mathieson / Bren Maloney type. Bull with no class and fumbles a lot, avoid
Josh Lindsay
: Looked the goods, reminded me of Hayden Young’s draft video with his kicking but we don’t need more HBFs, avoid
Lachy Doverston:
Looked like a semi good small forward, a bit like Chandler but with more pace and hopefully more goals. Maybe like a Weightman/Elliot type without the aerial capability. Maybe
Mitch Marsh
: Mobile, smart and great field kick and can win a contested mark, reminded me of Jeremy Cameron moving around the field and up forward, was suprised he was only 191cm, could play 3rd tall. Draft
Sam Grlj:
Very fast runner, looks like that kid Port Drafted last year, Christian Moraes, seems to have crap disposal though from trying to do everything at 100m an hour. Avoid
Jevan Phillipou:
Looks clean, kicks goals and can accumulate, Dangerfield/Trac type. Fell down rankings I think due to injury. Draft

I think we need forwards direly so for me I would go for Marsh, Phillipou and Devaston. Lindsay as a backup but no idea how he would fit into the team. Sharp and Robey will be gone by our picks.

Are we even that well stocked for half-backs? McVee out the door, Rivers and Windsor into the midfield (Lamb basically confirmed Rivers today, plus Windsor has spoken about training as a mid), which leaves Bowey, Salem (lol) and AMW (more a defensive back pocket type and coming off a major injury)? Suppose Xavier Lindsay might end up back there, but I don't think it's exactly an embarrassment of riches considering how important quick, accurate ball movement is in the modern game.

If we got a 3rd top 20 I would consider as Phillipou or Marsh may slip a bit but we should be looking at forwards primarily.

It's a question of needs vs talent. I would lean towards talent over needs earlier on in the draft. If a hayden young clone is available I'm taking him if he's the best available even if we don't need good kickers off the backline (which I think we do).
