It's such a funny strategy. Start by having senior players and officials slag him off, crying, making his return much harder. Then do an about face, almost have the board overthrown and deny any willingness to trade him.

I thought the club was starting to turn it around the last couple off-seasons. Glad to see I was wrong.

I don’t usually post, but I think everyone here needs to exit panic mode for a second. My read on this is Essendon don’t want a fair-deal, they want the best deal (and fair enough, I’d want hawks to do the same). Ofcourse they wouldn’t accept any offer right now, they’ll continue to turn down anything that’s not the absolute best, and that “final” best offer is usually 5 minutes before the deadline.

I fully trust MM and our coach in our approach, I see no reason why the wouldn’t have fully pivoted to Humphries if the Merrett deal was truely “dead in the water”. That’s not to say they secretly haven’t either.

I think a few ppl here are getting the trade-period crazies. Turn off that junk trade radio for a few hours, it’ll do some good for your mental.

Since the Lynch and Cogs moves, "missing" a player has been a blessing much more often than not.

Even if the deal does fall through, I'm not stressing. Miss Ladhams, get Meek and Chol. Miss McKay and Rategolea, get Barrass and Battle. Etc
