Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

But given their current ladder position, the 2027 draft compromised, they must have been slightly considering taking something to get young talent in before 2027. I reckon if that second round pick was Mitch Lewis they may have considered that. Pick 9, future 1st, Lewis & Hustwaite.

After an amazing 1st week of trading we have petered out very quickly.

The silence from the club since the Aleer fiasco has been deafening. Something doesn’t add up. Board telling the recruiting team to stop selling our future?? Cap issues??

Might be another boring day tomorrow for us by the looks.

even without Aleer, we still need to drop a contracted player off the senior list, in addition to delisting all the OOC ones (Jones/Arie/Byrnes). it looks like Steele is staying and surely there would have been a mention of Butler by now (other than here) if he was potentially on the move?

I guess we could delist someone (eg Dow, Carroll, Said - if allowed) with a promise to re-rookie but do they get past West Coast with 4 extra spots? maybe Carroll goes with our blessing, WA boy and they were keen last year

in reality all signs point towards trading Marshall, and we are just waiting to see who blinks first. we should get an improved offer if/when a Curnow deal is finalised with the Swans

Can't see anyone taking Dow or Carroll and I wouldn't lose any sleep if they did.

Surprised Dow got a contract so early and I wasn't aware Carroll had another year?

Marshall is being held up because Geelong are still half-in/half-out on Curnow. No one wants Steele or any of our other players.

We might do something with our F1? But maybe we want to keep it for a crack at Butters next year.

Just made the mistake of watching agenda setters FMD.cornes asks which club has had the best trade period so far .cleary's answer GC getting pick 7 for flanders was overs.lol

Cleary always looks as if he’s sucking a lemon while chewing glass.

He was getting all excited when speaking about how Leek Aleer and Alix Tauru have the same Manager and how that might cause St Kilda some problems.

Then Cleary excitedly observed that Tasmania will be backing the truck up for Tauru.

The only thing I hate about walking from Aleer is the notion we've stuffed our cap or 'finally found our calculator'.

Sounds petty, but that's almost the only reason as to why I really wanted us to bring someone else in before tomorrow's deadline just to stick it up all of the naysayers.

The GWS media team are usually elite.
This is awkwardly unfunny.

What a weird situation. Both GWS fans on the D&T thread seems to be angry that Aleer is staying but happy at the same time.

Kind of like being upset that your Mrs ended up not leaving you for someone better looking with more money, and you are happy that she’s still with you, but at the same time lamenting that she missed an opportunity to upgrade.

Also he’s only an RFA and Port will have plenty of $$$ to match whatever another club offers.

So Geelong are going to have to pay full price. Which might cause Mackie’s face to change from boring to show an actual human emotion.
