This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

This is not how it ever plays out with Hawthorn. We never walk. Once we commit and the player commits we get deals done.

I am not sure why anyone ever thought we would get another clubs captain and best player for a couple of players that have been playing in our VFL behind Nash and Worpel.

When we get him tonight there will be some heartache for some supporters on here.

We haven’t walked, the bombers have said he is not for sale.

There is a difference between walking and not for sale. 😉

And if we do end up bending over we will have taken a far bigger risk than anything Clarko ever did - yet many here are happy to pot shot Clarko at every opportunity.

There is a difference though, after the three-peat we didn't win a single final under Clarko. Two straight sets. There is more evidence that now is the time to top up than there was in the years we made the Wingard/O'Meara trades.

Having said that I do think Clarko was harshly graded (and had some bad luck), and I still thought it was worth trying at the time. Even with hindsight I think we needed to give it a shot, but certainly think we have better evidence this time around that it is the right thing to do, i.e 3 finals wins in 2 years, and a relatively young list with some improvement still to be had from natural development. If there was a time to pay overs for elite talent , it would seem that now is that time. Hope we don't get too shafted in our eagerness though - especially by Essendon , who should rightly further implode if they have to keep Merrett now.

Next year we need a 'test' before having access to this thread.

It will ask the following question...

Q. Do you understand that if a player is currently in contract, that the club CANNOT trade them without the player agreeing to it?
Maybe ex-players working on Trade Radio should be asked answer the same question.

So the talk regarding this year's draft is that it is one of the weakest of all-time, therefore clubs are needing to pay overs with any 2025 picks due to this fact.
That seemingly doesn't apply for Hawthorn players.
Cal Twomey- "CJ would likely be for a late pick."
Swans also offering pick 62 for Serong.

I wouldn't mind getting slightly better value for our players that can help unlock other trades.

Bombers: This player of ours that has indicated that he clearly wants to leave and specifically get to Hawthorn is not for sale. As such, we are not going to engage with Hawthorn at all and refuse to even pick up the phone.

Also Bombers: We might consider a trade if Lewis or McKenzie is included, even though they are both currently contracted at Hawthorn, neither of them have indicated they want to leave and we have never spoken to either of them.

Sam Edmund finally hit the nail on the head when he just said "how do you convince a best 23 player at Hawthorn to play at Essendon"

Glad someone finally gets it lol
They all agreed immediately. They obviously knew that, but if they just point out facts or realistic hypotheticals the show would be 20 minutes long each day.

It’s rage bait to get engagement.
