Never forget how much of a disaster this egg head left us in

"I know, come round one next year, when I see the first ball bounced and our midfield of Gawn, Viney, Oliver and Petracca ... that you Melbourne faithful will be there in full force," Green said.

The mention of Oliver's name was met with applause.

Absolute cringe allround

Thanks for sharing all of that info. Where do you think Jack Dalton will go? I’d love the Demons to look at him with pick 37 if he’s still available. Missed a lot of footy, but he’s got good skills, big ball winner, great runner and he’s a strong leader. I’m surprised he isn’t being rated much - reminds me a bit of the situation with Max Holmes
I'll give you my thoughts on Dalton, but as I mentioned there's significant differences of opinion this year so if a club likes him he could go much higher than I expect.

For me, he's a fantastic endurance runner, but lacks the weapons to really damage. You mentioned that he has good skills, I'm not sure I agree with that exactly. I think he's middle of the pack with the ball. Not a butcher, but not elite either. He's not slow, but not express pace. He's decent at stoppage, brave and tough, but quite small (under 180cm) and slight of frame.

I think the concern is where he plays at AFL level. If he can't make it as a mid, which I think is unlikely, then the options might be a nuggety lockdown small defender, or maybe a hard working high half forward, but in both those roles teams tend to desire more damage with the footy or aerial strength these days.

Wild what we could have traded Oliver for last year... instead we're paying him 500k every year for the next half a decade while he runs around for GWS.

Can't wait to see the Demon Army give him a standing ovation when we play the Giants next year lmao.

You think he's gonna last those 5 years? He'll be lucky to be on any list circa 2027/8.

Who knows, who cares.

Wouldn't surprise me if he had at least a couple of really good seasons.

Shit then I can hate two teams at the same time

Honestly, a decent trade period all things considered. Was expecting a lot worse. We turned Oliver into Steele and got a decent return for Trac. Mihocek, Jiath and Heath aren't going to much to change our immediate prospects, but they each fill particular holes on our list and we were able to get them across for basically nothing. Losing McVee hurts, but I guess there's not much we could have done about that.

I thinks it's great that Essendon and the Saints said get stuffed to Merrett and Marshall's managers. You signed the contract, you're staying unless they give us big overs. Players been spoiled too long.

I wish I could find the post from a certain Hawks poster “expert” in the ear of “people that know” that did a great post a month back about how “of course the Hawks will get Merrett and Petracca done” along with a convoluted bizarre trade scenario involving us getting some future seconds or something

I’m actually feeling happy. I reckon we win the premiership with Steele best on for Melbourne, against GWS and Leek Aleer gets the Norm Smith. Hawks finish 16th in this vision and we trade up to pick one using some third rounders that Lamb hates or whatever.

SEN gave them the softest report card Basically said: "Hawks didn't land anyone that they targeted over the year but they had a really good go: B"

Dunno if Essendon made the right choice, but hats off to them - they made it funny.

Merrett’s manager cracking it in the Hawks room with Essendon’s massive troll pisstake of demanding 4 first rounders was good gear.

I mean, they said from the start “we are absolutely not trading Merrett”. Sometimes you need to listen.

They also went after Allen and Reid and looked at Humphrey, Petracca and Butters.

They were pretty arrogant in their approaches all year, so pretty funny they wound up with nothing.

Dons self-harming to hurt Hawks was 10/10 comedy
" I'll kill myself to kill you, my mortal enemy!" Thats metal as.

100%.

Desperately need young talent, needed to actually rebuild rather than fooling themselves, offered overs for a 30 year old that doesn't want to be there.
