Collingwood later on Wednesday only offered a future second-round pick for Simpkin which was immediately shut down by North, with the Magpies never offering North a first-round pick in any draft for their captain.

So after all that the Pies only offered 1 pick in the 30's for Simpkin - not the 2 originally reported.

As for Curnow ...I'm sure Cal is just taking the piss here. There is less chance of that happening than there was of Brady accepting the Pies 1 second rounder.

Talking to my ITK, this entire trade period seems like there was dominos that had to fall that would have unlocked a lot of other moves;

If Hawthorn got Merrett, the belief seems to be that there would have been a three team trade that saw Jy go to Collingwood and Zane go to Essendon. But it all hinged on Essendon having the trade assets from the Merrett deal, which never eventuated.
