He’d have to sit out a year if they matched his nominated contract.
I believe its 2 years according to CBA. It says 23 month player bound to club unless club willingly delist him etc

Surely they could request a trade after 12 months

What's done is done - I'm proud our club stuck to its brand, a player is worth what they are worth, trading them off for half price sends the wrong message to the player and other clubs. We held our dignity although we will loose out, we remain a club that values players fairly, and deals with other clubs in good faith. The Starc deal with the Eagles, fair and professional. The Ah Chee deal just messy but the Lion's position the same as the Starc deal however the receiving club thought very differently.

I was fishing in the Tiwi Islands the last week of Trade Week so excuse me if this has been answered.

How does Ah Chee, feel about Brisbane? was he disgruntled for being paid less than he is worth? is he disgruntled now because we over valued him and he didn't get where we wanted to go irrespective of a fair deal? Does Ah Chee just think, "oh that is football, it's just a business", and he doesn't care either way.

His manager - seems a right royal piece of work, he wanted his player gone, obviously getting his % and thought he could bully the Lions into a low price. It seemed to be a very low price but whom else at the Lions does he manage? if this is his tactic then whom is next? He seems to think he can win the public relations out of this and I cant see the Lions being friends with him.

Tampering. Joe Daniher contract, well documented. Initial contract, signed high then extend low so Bombers get higher compensation pick. If Ah Chee nominates high so other clubs cant afford him then the Crows extend low that contract much lower, is that tampering? no compensation involved for Brisbane but other clubs are disadvantaged in the draft deliberately and the full length of contact, when amortised over the period would see more clubs be able to make an offer. This seems a dangerous precedent for the AFL, Ah Chee's manager has to make his client unattractive to about 14 other clubs to get to the Crows. Especially Port Adelaide, same city, could afford the contact at the amortised rate over year and maybe even more so in the back years if Butters leaves next year. then the dockers and Eagles if told he doesnt want to play for them in his 'home' city, what have they to say?

Very interesting - doesn't really bother the Lions too much I'd suggest, Brand is intact, the Crows are in the back room now with St Kilda as hard to get along with Clubs. Lions win the Premiership again - happy days.

I'd be surprised if Ah Chee had any ill toward Brisbane.
I would be surprised if the Lions didn’t stay in contact with AhChee to inform him of the progress and that a trade was unlikely to happen.

They can - but the club can choose not to like many of them have done this year.
If a player were to sit out a year as a result of being forced to a club they didn’t want to go to.
That club would be crazy not to entertain a trade and take whatever they could get tbh.

Oh you didn't mention sitting out a year in the previous post.
Cam McCarthy did that and got to Fremantle.

I think it was mentioned as part of the conversation. (Not by me)
Unless if I just made it up as I am at home with the flu, so my head is not screwed on tight.

Was that his punishment?
Nothing. He signed a 2 year extension in 2015 before changing his mind and requesting a trade to WA, which failed. He was granted personal leave from GWS in 2016 before they agreed to trade him to Freo at the end of 2016.

Cal has a short window to set himself and his family up, if he sat out a year or two due to who drafted him it would completely undo that. I don't buy the family angle in terms of location; it gets thrown around a lot. So, it's about capitalizing on his value to other clubs, which there are many who would be happy to pay a two-time premiership player for their services. Port for example need to convince Butter's they are a destination club. They will move heaven and earth to make this happen. Cal adds kudos to any list and brings with him the professionalism that is required to achieve the ultimate.

Who else are we taking in the draft after Annable. 2 more? Waller, Prindable, Bridge or some youngsters not from the academy? Seems like we gave Prindable a good run late in the year.

If Port take him, not only would I buy a Port Membership but I would go to Alberton Oval and kiss the turf.
