Think I'd prefer Queensland to win this match. Don't want complacency creeping in, we're not dominating every facet of the game. Having Queensland nipping at our heels makes next game more important

More to the point, if we are the dominant domestic side…what does it say about our Test team…

We've been the best test nation 4 separate times since 2020. So for all the bellyaching about the state of Aus cricket, our batting, our club cricket scene... We're perpetually in the top 3 nations in all formats.

I think the worry about our national team is somewhat a mountain out of a molehill. We aren't suddenly going to struggle to win test series at home against middling opposition, or struggling to qualify for World Cups. We have as much money as two other nations and more than the rest. We'll be fine.

Plus Short available too
And the Australian test selectors continue to ignore players that play for Victoria. Some wonderful young talent in that Victorian team.Sadly I think Short might not make team as important we stick with young players like Dixon and Peake for the moment despite failing in the last couple of games.

Who would you have in the test team from this state apart from Boland?

Kellaway: Could get there but has a habit of being feast or famine right now. Needs to be more consistent.
O'Neill: A bit too slow for Aussie conditions but would be suited to England or New Zealand
Murphy: Not as good as Lyon
Maxwell (because it's you): Not close to our top 6 bats in the country, 37 years old and hasn't played FC cricket since 2023

The woe is me coming from Victorians about selections righ now is bullshit.

Maxwell would not even make the Victorian shield team now even if available.I would consider having O.Neill at least in the 15 man squad,Kellaway will play test cricket for Australia one day but lets not rush him in like they did with Konstas.Took them a long time to select Boland and he is not guaranteed a game even now if the other 3 fast bowlers are available.

Short is now getting the Maxwell treatment. Scarcely available for Victoria due to copious useless white ball selections for Australia in series that no one gives a toss about.

You'd have an argument if he were in the top few all rounders in the country, but he'd be behind Green, Hardie, Webster at a minimum ATM and the selectors seemingly have Connolly ahead as well. He's a decent FC player but white ball is clearly his future for the country

Well how do we know he is not a red ball cricketer as well when similar to Maxwell he does not get the opportunity to play it.Sadly at the moment I can not see him getting into this Victorian team if he ever gets the chance to play red ball cricket any where at the moment though.Perhaps he should move to NSW,lol.

Good result for us with the talentless sandgroper crabs winning.
This is a gap that means SS final cannot be fumbled from here. We have to ram this advantage home next round and beat 2nd placed Qld.

Top 3, generally opens though.

He's not a number 6. Biggest issue is that we don't have a genuine all rounder like Green, Hardie, Webster that can play in the top 6 and bowl meaningful overs.
Think Sutherland has the capabilities to be a genuine all rounder. Just needs to apply himself more consistently. Should be batting 7 at least. Sam Elliott also has some ability with the bat also.

He's not a 7. Doesn't have the technique for it
