greeves and onley in the rookie draft
surely one of those would have been ours had the afl not shafted our 2 extra list spots

Told you this months ago Nostra, had it confirmed via an unnamed source and another unnamed source who I think had the same source.

Larkey, Trembath, Whitlock, McCartney or some other decent KPF next year, plus Goad and Xerri rotating ruck forward is a nice looking forward set up with the mosquito fleet buzzing around.

Zero point picking up a player we thought was no good just for a "depth chart"

Logue, Comben, Dawson, Thredgold is a mighty nice looking defence. Hardeman needs a partner. Mustn't have been much available at our 3rd pick.

Looks like we're finally getting our shit together.
All we need now is for all the North supporters to unequivibly support the club through the coming years and watch the club rise from the depths of despair like a Phoenix rising from the ashes... 🙄

And this will be very unpopular on here, but I think CCJ will still be given opportunities by this coaching department if he can stay injury free.

Yeah and maybe they'll take me out of the stands to have a go as well.

the club are giving Whitlock the kpf role I , obviously if that doesn’t work we may need to use Charlie or draft someone next year.

I do think we need another kpd it means re don’t need to rely on Logue or Corr and while pink is serviceable it makes sense to upgrade.

The fact that some kpfs were around our third pick and we didn’t go for it probably reads that we didn’t really rate them that highly.

I do think our picks address needs am happy

the point i was making the whole time which is that it is not consistent to lose them considering we are still bottom 4
and eagles get theirs longer

no surprise the afl never released an official statement cos what would even be their justification without looking like idiots who make rules up on the spot inconsistently

Sometimes all of these factors can over-complicate the decision, though. Sort of "can't see the wood for the trees" in action.

I had a mate who was part of the St Kilda recruiting team over a decade ago, and that team decided to take Paddy McCartin over Christian Petracca (who was almost universally assessed as the number 1 pick that year) on the basis of psych evaluations.

Oooops.
That's fair. Sometimes teams can overthink it and fixate on the weaknesses of players.
I did hear someone say the Cats recruiters almost focus more on the raw athletic attributes and strengths of players and think they can develop their skills once they get them into their development program.

We still have gaping holes in defence, midfield and forward 50.

However we can now get on with training hard, developing our younger players and implementing a game plan capable of making us a competitive outfit.
Do we really have a gaping hole in defense still with 3 young talls developing? Perhaps another elite ball user for HBF

How long did we have them for in comparison to Wet Toast?

Fox Footy Report Card (Possibly Ghost Written By Nostra)

NORTH MELBOURNE

Picks (at the start of the draft): 25, 26, 46

Selections: Lachy Dovaston (16), Blake Thredgold (26), Hugo Mikunda (48)

A ripping result for the Kangaroos with their first two picks. They might’ve gotten their hands on the next Nick Watson in Eastern Ranges dynamo Lachy Dovaston — a 177cm small forward with serious nous around the big sticks, kicking 38 majors in the Ranges’ premiership campaign to earn team of the year honours. He adds to a North Melbourne attack in need of some smaller-sized firepower alongside Paul Curtis, having also added [PLAYERCARD]Charlie Spargo[/PLAYERCARD] during free agency. And the Roos got him at Pick 16, which was a few spots lower than some initially anticipated he might’ve gone. The Roos then ticked the key defender box at Pick 26, taking SA backman Blake Thredgold, who had fans in the first round. A strong, competitive and well-balanced defender, Thredgold soared up draft boards in the back-half of the season. The Roos had a chance to draft a key forward with their last pick but opted to overlook Archie Ludowyke and instead pounce on Hugo Mikunda — a competitive, energetic half-forward with serious running power and confidence to take aggressive kicks. Only time will tell, but the Roos had a late golden opportunity to take a tall goalkicker who’d slid down the board to support [PLAYERCARD]Nick Larkey[/PLAYERCARD] and [PLAYERCARD]Jack Darling[/PLAYERCARD].

Grade: A-
