It was touted as a bumper trade period with a lot of deals.. Slow going so far.
The only slow we want, is Slocombe.

Potentially I think clubs are overestimating what they will get in return for their players, and not many are willing to overpay in draft capital, and why would they honestly

The amount of coverage of the trade period and draft on the AFL website is pretty pathetic versus the coverage of the men. I get why it is the way it is, but what else do they have to talk about this time of year?

Read in the latest AFLW article;

'The Blues are also going through a period of transition within their playing group, with four of the top five in the club's best and fairest this season under the age of 25 and with two of those – Poppy Scholz and Sophie McKay – both first-year players.'

Wow! Four of their top five under 25! Fancy that.

At least the player trade this morning is looking good value with NM & RICH swapping F4th round picks for Georgia Stubs.
A 3rd round pick 48 should get Ella Slocombe to WC?? maybe add something like a F4th?

Keeley Skepper CAR worth our 2nd round pick 30?
Sophie Peters BRI worth a F2nd?

I guess it depends if Adelaide are fighting to keep her. I reckon Adelaide's getting slow, so Hatchard is an obvious one to drop if you want to speed up. In which case, Adelaide might not be asking very much.

On the upside for the rest of the comp, maybe GC won't have enough picks to grab all the Academy players after the big four, if they're taking Hatchard as well. Which could leave players like Welsh and Nurse available... Welsh would be a great pick for us, livewire mid-sized forward, bit of the Jess Rentsch crazy about her.

Carlton going hell for leather to get McCormick in. Don’t think we have a spot for her given our glut of tall backs but **** she’s a gun.

Carlton pick up North’s 19 and a F2 for their own F1 and F3 the other way, trying to offer multiple firsts for McCormick now.

Erin Phillips (now G.M at GC) shaking some apples loose in a way we want Daisy to do.
Shaking apples, pulling strings, fluttering eyebrows or whatever can be done to persuade past connections to come play with us.
Hore + Zanker for our first and second, and throw in O'Hehir returning home for good measure.

If it's the same people involved with the men's team, they'll somehow manage to pick 6 academy girls in the top 20 and also trade in at least one good player from another club.
