He's averaging 25 with the bat. It's a lower average in far easier conditions and opposition (he's not facing Bumrah at the other end) than the justification people have given not to select Khawaja, even before you consider that Khawaja's outstanding run up until 2023 and decent Shield ability since (matching Weatherald's) still counts for something.

Yeah, fair call. I wasn't thinking of that side of things. I just don't think Weatherald should feel too hard done by there.

Weatherald has shown enough thus far for me for a new player at this level. Still, will need a couple of scores before the series is done just to be sure. Kellaway may soon move into the opening spot too so Head can go back down.
