ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER ( 2025 )

That was certainly something !
I feel this movie, much like THERE WILL BE BLOOD ( from the same director ) will improve upon rewatch
Dicaprio phoning it in but Penn was brilliant, oscar-nom brilliant imo.

All star cast. Even that fat campaigner from best of the best who played Travis Brickley. God bless his soul. Now deceased.
You mean Chriss Penn aka Willard from Footloose

That's him. I didn't know he played in a few bigger movies. I thought it was just best of the best 1 and 2.
Didn't get the critical acclaim of his brother Sean but he's still got a pretty good resume

Much more a supporting cast member rather than a lead of course

What the he'll, Sean Penn's brother. I had no idea. Sean's a great actor. Or was.

Living starring Bill Nighy and Aimee Lou Wood

Basically a remake of the 1952 Akira Kurosawa movie Ikiru

Set in 1953 and they made the choice to make it look like it was made in 1953

Starts with stock footage from the day and the credits look like they're from that period

The aspect ratio was authentic and they did their level best on colour and lighting to keep that technicolor feel

And by god do I appreciate that, it just looks so lovely, lighting is just so much more interesting

Just looked up what else the director Oliver Hermanus has done and he's got a new movie coming out called The History of Sound starring Paul Mecal, Josh O'Connor and Chris Cooper

Just watched Havoc.
Won't feature in any best of lists but is equal number 1 spot with Mission Impossible Final Reckoning In the "films with convoluted plots, too many characters and go for too long BUT have two amazing set pieces that make it all worth while" rankings.
The night club scene in particular is Gareth Evans and tom hardy at their best.

Still a bit of a shame that Gareth Evans + Tom Hardy +Timothy Olyphant didnt equal a 10/10 action film.

Fight Club

An all time favourite of mine. Top 20 if not top 10 for sure. Norton and Pitt an awesome duo. I'll check out how much they made off that film shortly. Would be through the roof.

His name is Robert Poulsen. His name is Robert Poulsen. His name is Robert Poulsen. His name is Robert Poulsen.

".....' **** off my porch, fat man ! "

You gonna watch Resevoir Dogs ??

Worth it for " Why am i MR PINK ??? "....

It's just me and my six year old home this afternoon so we decided to watch a movie from when I was a kid. I pulled up a few movie posters to show him and he settled on Beethoven - the one about the giant dog.

He absolutely loved it but was really moved by it. He had a few tears when the dogs escaped from the van but got separated, and was very stressed at the idea of the dogs being hurt. He thought it was hilarious when the evil vet got bitten on the weiner though.

Overall it was a good movie to watch together. He rated it 60/10. I gave it a 7.

Deep Impact

Down from 7/10 to 6/10

Too many cringe moments, Tea Leoni sucks. I hate her soulless personality. Wood as a kid is mediocre. First 40 minutes was trash.really didnt enjoy revisiting this one.

I think Deep Impact gets an automatic +1 for proximity to Armageddon - so 6/10 seems about right (could really be a 5)

I prefer Armageddon. The comedy helps it alongband a much more memorable cast

The only memorable actor im Deep Impact had a 2 minute role. Freeman wasnt at his best.

Yes both films walked so 2012 could fall over miserably.

I liked 2012 for the absurd cgi and effects.

Ive seen one of threads or The Day After cant remember which one.

Children of Men. Contagion, outbreak.

Going down the disaster arc

What a bizarre film the new Anaconda with Jack Black is.

Tries to be 100 different things in parts - and as a result, misses the mark on all of them.

It's a shame as I actually thought the premise was okay.

Karate Kid III

Bad Boy Barnes and Terry Silver made it. One of my favourites ever if it is ridiculous.

Doesn’t matter how bad - am a sucker for a disaster flick

Dante's Peak Bronson, Hamilton

6.5/10

Real slow burn for the first half hard yo keep interested but does a 360 half way. Its more of a Tuesday arvo movie. I don't think Pierce Bronson can play a bad role be it in a small or big film. Good visuals and CGI. not bad overall but rated for what it is.

Knives Out: Wake up Dead Man

I know these aren’t perfect but I just find them so entertaining and enjoyable.

The cast was just incredible. Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Thomas Haden Church and Jeffrey Wright.

Without doubt though, Josh O’Connor absolutely stole the show.

That’s now three Knives Out movies and I think they’ve nailed all three. Clearly I’m not alone, all three have rated pretty well.

8.5/10
