surely anyone semi regular here would understand who those players are.

I think wardlaw and parish are great value.

anyone taking the punt on de goey?
You’re seriously overrating my ability to comprehend even very simple stuff — I like that about you

I’m letting De Goey train with my team over summer — if he trains hard and shows a good attitude I might give him a chance

For me I think the 350-500k range is danger zone. Love a 250-350k elevated rookie.

For me I think Flanders, Degoey, Trealor pick themselves in the forward line.

Plus Trac and Draper as a ruck/forward with upside.
MPM, no rookies on field!!

See I don’t get this. Why waste big bucks on Bont and butters when you could start Draper as a Forward, Bryan as Flex and set and forget your rucks. (And save potentially save money)

Because you will be chasing tail trying to get Bont in as a must have all season.. you want to try and start with those guys who rarely dip during the year. Unless I badly need the cash, I can see me starting Bont and Butters.

Bont only needs 1 game under 100 and hope he drops at least $50k. He averaged 125 the first 7 rounds last season and dropped $40k so with the early bye it's worth a risk not starting him.

I tend to disagree there. Not having those guys doesn’t matter until you’re complete. Especially if you have other reliable captain options.

First 6-10 weeks of the season is about how many points you can get out of 9M starting salary on field. Your Uber premiums tend to be priced fairly or even produce less than fair value at that point of the season.

That team might not be chasing Bont/butters but will need Gawn/Grundy/Xerri at some point an the drop off from top rucks to lesser rucks is bigger then the drop off at premo mids where you can normally snag a cheapie after a tag

Bont and ND for me. ND was playing injured early, reckon his price is unders.

Yeah but you gotta find 650k spare coin to grab him early. That’s a big ask when you’re dealing with corrections and dead rookies.

What, and deny myself the chance to punt on a couple of mid priced rucks?

Do you even know the meaning of “madness”?

Agree that it's a big ask but that's what MPM is all about (IMO). The upgrade cost to grab him is 2 trades, a $450k MP'er and a maxed out rookie. The difficulty stems from a 30PPG upgrade of a MP'er as compared to an upgrade from a rookie (80PPG). The perceived gain is much greater with the rookie upgrade.

I let group think sway me away from my early season strategy last season. The plan was to start Cripps & Cerra (& TDK) with their soft early run up to round 7. Cerra was the sacrifice to get Bont but he was scoring at 110 and everyone said I was mad and must have more important things to do rather than lose Cerra at that stage, I listened but paid the price.

I'll be doing something similar this year as I can't afford (nobody can) all of Bont, Butters, ND, NWM, Sinclair, Sheez, Max & Xerri. Something has to give and to me it's the players with the early bye with no real upside who can possibly be bought cheaper later on.

To back onto this, from 2012-2025, it looks like these players most consistently come from the 250-400k range, so I'd be wary of strating outside of this area. (This is filtered from 30+ PPG increases, in line with the 150k we want from a rookie)

Would be interesting to see this in terms of cash gain over the longer term. Last year 9/10 biggest cash gainers by round 9 were sub 250k starting prices.

he's 390k

i'd be surprised if anyone has any hawthorn player in their team
I think Will Day is fairly tempting but he burned me last year so I'm not doing it.

Mackenzie also represents good value assuming he's in the side now (who else is replacing Worpel?).

I can imagine if either of them have a big R0 they will lure some in.

Then there's talk of Weddle into the middle

See for me how I look at it is if they make 100-150k how much will they cost.

If it’s over 500k (Def/FWD) or over 550 (Mid/ruck) then that makes the successful outcome for them needing to be a premium.

I just find that risk reward not worth it. Your betting you can find a needle in a haystack premium/keeper and if your wrong it costs you 2 trades to fix. Id rather just spend the extra 100k

It’s also a lower $$$ per point multiplier. That 200-350 range your getting good points on field as a start and they don’t need to be keepers to be successful but often are as forwards/defenders which saves you trades if it works

If there's historical supercoach pricing data I could scrape that, haven't found any though, just have access to historical averages and basic data (kicks/hb/tog etc..)

Rookies are also problematic since that's just generated off previous year vs current year(which doesn't exist for rookies)

Tooserious probably has the best datasets for price rises, but there are a few errors in the data every now and then.

Cody Weightman-226k

Went at 70 in 2024 with an Injury affected 2. Basically a high priced rookie. If he could go at 70-75 for first month. Money to be made. 8 scores above 70 out of the 16 games he played that year. Big Risk, like most of these picks. Not sure I have the plums to do it.

Likely won't play until mid-season

So who are the Mid Pricers we are easily overlooking.
My list of lowest mentioned players are:

Weddle
Freijah
JHF
Wines
Oliver
Durham
Archie Roberts
Peatling
Drew
Banks
Rayner
Wardlaw
Curtin
Harvey Langford
DBJ
Erasmus
Darcy Wilson
Angus Clarke
Kako
Watson
Sonsie

Now put these names on a dartboard and fire away, because any of them could be either studs or duds.

I have noticed that higher ranked teams just get these midpricer picks right from their first team, while the rest of us have to trade into them.

Add in the players that everyone is talking about more, which player A vs player B is going to be “Highlander”.
