Because we can’t. Butters is a FA. and we have 5 first rounders to cover Cody. And that’s it. Then we win in 2027. Pretty simple.
There'll be a conga line of clubs after his signature, but he'd be a great get. He'd become the other key target up forward, and allow big H the versatility to venture higher up the ground as well as spending more time as the relief ruckman. What about Ben King?

Braddle’s is the type of player I would love to see play alongside Cripps.I would like to see Walsh emulate Craig Bradley, being a receiver who has a devastating forward effect.

It'll cost us a few pennies to get him across as a FA, but would be surprised if GCS match an offer - reckon their cap will be bursting over the next few years with the list they're building.
Anyway, just another pipe dream - apparently he's over the line at the filth, just ask their supporters![]()
I'd be surprised if we'd be any chance for Zac Butters. IMO, either the salary would be so large that Port won't match (which I'd doubt we could compete with), or Port will match / threaten to match and the draft picks necessary would most likely mean no Cody Walker. However, IMO, I think we could be a possible chance for the likes of Ben King. GC is going to have trouble keeping all their players moving forward, and we could get King as a RFA, if GC wouldn't match an offer. But if they did / threatened to do so, again I doubt we'd have the trade capital to get King and also Cody Walker. Will be an interesting year in this regard....There'll be a conga line of clubs after his signature, but he'd be a great get. Not saying I don’t believe you’ve been told that, but I have a contact in the recruiting space at Collingwood that believes he will end up at the dogsI’m told from a player manager that Butters is signed, sealed delivered to Collingwood unfortunately.
Reckon a lot hinges on the Walsh situation. If he elects to leave, it gives us further salary relief as well as additional draft capital, which then opens up many doors.I hope we don't go down this path. Much prefer a Mihocek, Voss, Morris type. Hard working team players. We need a proper set up, not focus on one gun player.
Prefer to focus on draft picks, improved development and coaching and then smart value recruiting to fill holes.
That's my take

Chances are that Humphrey will again look to move back home the end of the year, and Walter still hasn't re-signed and is OOC the end of the year. Plenty of possibilities apart from King to bring in some higher end talent.
If he stays on decent coin, we'll likely just go back to the Khamis well as a RFA cheap option.
We can cross Voss off the list unfortunately he signed an extra 4 years before ChristmasI hope we don't go down this path. Much prefer a Mihocek, Voss, Morris type. Hard working team players. We need a proper set up, not focus on one gun player.

Think the post was about “type”. Combative, competitive team first type.We can cross Voss off the list unfortunately he signed an extra 4 years before Christmas
Yeah i understand that. But I’ve seen post in here last year with people thinking we should chase Voss over King. I’m just hoping people know his off the table nowThink the post was about “type”. Combative, competitive team first type.
FWIW I am very hopeful that with Harry McKay, Brodie Kemp and Hudson O’Keeffe, we have just that combination. We need a presence in the forward line in our reserves team and it would be prudent to draft a young player to develop for when Big H starts to decline in a few years. With Moir and probably Ison we have third tall options and Lewis Young remains a competitive foil should he be required in the front half.
Still some suggestion O’Farrell may be utilised forward at some stage to consider when assessing options as well.
