Venezuela’s defense minister, Gen. Vladimir Padrino Lopez, in a national address, denounces what he called a U.S. attack. “This invasion represents the most blatant outrage suffered by the country,” he says. This is the first public appearance by a senior Venezuelan official since the start of the explosions. General Padrino Lopez is Venezuela’s top ranking officer and is seen as a crucial member of Maduro’s coalition.

Above is from the New York Times. So it doesn't sound like they have the Venezuelan military on side?
Don't think you can capture the leader of another country - if they actually have - without any resistance, without getting some help from that countries military

“America will bomb your country until there’s nothing left, then come back 20 years later and make a movie about how sad their soldiers got from doing it.”
– Frankie Boyle

What a silly post. Captured in less than what 12 hours? The US military fights real wars. This will scare the crap out of Putin and China

Now that said I don’t think this is smart. Cartels will take over and be worse. China can use the same justification to take Taiwan. The base will hate this. Not sure this is America first?
It won't scare Russia or China. It will embolden them. There are no rules anymore. Just pay Trump to look the other way.

This is a joke, right?

I bet you $10 Putin agrees to a peace deal by 31 March

This is based on cutting off some oil supply to China and the US signalling to China/Russia to stay out of the Americas. Zero to do with Epstein - CNN just showed a few days ago Trump kicked Epstein out of Maralago and cut ties well before the allegations came out. Perhaps the usual cheer squad on here could take of the Trump hate goggles and think clearly? This is the same idiots who gave us WMDs adopting a policy to show influence in the Americas. Trump has fallen for it - hope I am wrong but my initial reaction is it’s a really dump decision

When was the last one they won?

And then congratulate themselves for having the courage to make such a film.

Depends on what you call a win. They are great at toppling regimes. Not so great at managing the aftermarth

Of course we wouldn’t be a country if they didn’t beat Japan in WW2. Something worth remembering

Agreed.

Wasn't there a legit reward for helping capture/detain Maduro? Someone's rich.

Or China. I’m sure there are plenty of submarines lurking

China is the one to watch.

First and foremost, the core ethos of China's whole international ideology is that you absolutely respect sovereignty. You don't **** around with other countries.

Secondly, China was investing massively in Venezuela. Massively. China is (/was?) Venezuela's largest trading partner and the majority of that was oil. China had invested literal billions in developing Venezuela's oil infrastructure.

Hell...China had a high-level diplomatic delegation in Caracas today.

China respects sovereignty? Are you serious? This has to be a piss take

Can you list the countries China has invaded, and compare that to the US?

You can pick the time period - 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years.
