Beyond his match-winning performances with the ball and his contributions with the bat, I think he deserves it for being the unquestioned leader of an otherwise second string bowling attack, with Hazlewood being completely unavailable, Lyon being practically unavailable and Cummins being mostly unavailable.

I love Boland, but wouldn't bet on him being able to carry the bowling attack, had Starc not done that role so superbly throughout the series.

Maxwell did have a stroke. That should be grounds for winding back his broadcast commitments, not increasing them. I don't think Middlemas is all that great, but he at least can look at a scoreboard and tell us the score.

I think Middlemas has been brilliant. Good general knowledge and has enough insight to hold conversation with the experts. Also understands that his job is to call and prompt the expert when needed.

Shame we can't have Aggers every year though, smooth operator.
