It'd be great to do both tbh. One of the main problems with Victoria Park at the moment is that it lacks good connections to the surrounding train stations. I don't know how they'll do it or what they'll propose, but it'd be good to create more streamlined walking routes to these stations from the Park to decrease walking times to and from the stadium.

Yeah, I can understand them balking at building a one billion dollar train station 700 meters down the line from an already existing train station. But that means they absolutely have to throw the kitchen sink at every other possible bit of transport infrastructure there is to compensate.

Yep, the other thing to keep in mind is that Optus had zero restrictions on its size at all. It’s about the same length as the MCG and only ten or so meters narrower.

With the “minimise impact on the park” GIICA mandate. I reckon we could think of Optus as the maximum size, think it’s entirely possible VP has a smaller footprint.

Was having a scroll through RTIs [right to information] earlier today. Out of curiosity if anyone had submitted requests relating to a Vic Park stadium, redevelopment, or precinct. Save Vic Park did a few, where I found this interesting plan relating to a stadium in Vic Park from BlightRayner Architecture submitted to the Quirk Review.
