edited to make more creepyI agree 100%. you don't throw young supple bodies into the crash and bash of the midfield early in season and games. let hopper and Taranto take the punishment and let the youngsters build into midfield minutes.
If gray doesn’t play I’ll lose my shitB: J. Gibcus, B. Miller, J. Short
HB: S. Banks, N. Balta, T. Brown
C: J. Trezise, J. Hopper, P. Retscheko
HF: T. Hotton, J. Faull, J. Ross
F: R. Mansell, T. Lynch, S. Campebll
FOLL: T. Nankervis, T. Taranto, S. Lalor

I’d be disappointed if we didn’t win by 25 goals.
settle down pistolYeah 197cm Smillie is taller than 195cm Gray.
Also, water is wet![]()
Re-hire Louis Meaghan?we really do need to figure a way to get a few veterans regularly rotating out of that squad, there's a log jam of talent in the depth category.
I don't think anyone wants to get rid of them, just not have them all together at once (with Prestia), and just rotate them so players like McAuliffe who is not a kid really, and our other young mids can get meaningful time in there.I still don’t get the obsession that Taranto and Hopper playing in the midfield is going to derail our youngsters development in particular those only coming into their second season.
It isn’t Under 10’s footy of the 2000’s where if you’re listed as a midfielder you literally stay in that position for the entire quarter. There will be rotations and there will be positional changes over the course of a game.
The youngsters will get plenty of exposure in the midfield in a sustainable manner from our coaching group.
Taranto and Hopper will share their load of the donkey work so our kids won’t be crippled with injuries playing too much midfield minutes too soon at AFL level.
Even elite talent like Dusty and Cotch took time early days and only had short stints in the middle and genuinely faded in the second halves as they couldn't sustain the efforts compared to seasoned players like Deledio and Tuck.
They are very much needed players while we rebuild and will make our kids better for it.
