I still don’t get the obsession that Taranto and Hopper playing in the midfield is going to derail our youngsters development in particular those only coming into their second season.

It isn’t Under 10’s footy of the 2000’s where if you’re listed as a midfielder you literally stay in that position for the entire quarter. There will be rotations and there will be positional changes over the course of a game.

The youngsters will get plenty of exposure in the midfield in a sustainable manner from our coaching group.

Taranto and Hopper will share their load of the donkey work so our kids won’t be crippled with injuries playing too much midfield minutes too soon at AFL level.
Even elite talent like Dusty and Cotch took time early days and only had short stints in the middle and genuinely faded in the second halves as they couldn't sustain the efforts compared to seasoned players like Deledio and Tuck.

They are very much needed players while we rebuild and will make our kids better for it.

I agree 100%. you don't throw young supple bodies into the crash and bash of the midfield early in season and games. let hopper and Taranto take the punishment and let the youngsters build into midfield minutes.
edited to make more creepy

B: J. Gibcus, B. Miller, J. Short

From the Herald Sun today...I like Lalor as Rover...Not sure on Lefau and Prestia (would swap for Cumming and Grlj)...Balta can pinch-hit in the Ruck...
If gray doesn’t play I’ll lose my shit

How steady are our KPD looking?

Remember in the off season when everyone lost their shit because we were trading Young? 🤣

Suss their round one best 22:

B: Cowan Weitering Dean
HB: Saad McGovern Florent
C: Carroll Cripps Acres
HF: Hayward Kemp Ainsworth
F: Moir McKay Byrne
OB: Pittonet Smith Walsh
IC: Hollands Cerra Hewett Chesser O'Keeffe

I’d be disappointed if we didn’t win by 25 goals.

we really do need to figure a way to get a few veterans regularly rotating out of that squad, there's a log jam of talent in the depth category.
Re-hire Louis Meaghan?

Hard not to get a little excited about Cumming

I don't think anyone wants to get rid of them, just not have them all together at once (with Prestia), and just rotate them so players like McAuliffe who is not a kid really, and our other young mids can get meaningful time in there.

As much as Hopper and Taranto are good at doing the grunt work, McAulife, Ross, Lalor and hopefully Smillie, then Cummings are hopefully going to become better all round players than them.

Dont worry about it

We love to eat our own and believe we have to have 23 superstars in the side and anything less is a fail

* Also have to play all the kids and when we get smashed we like to take pot shots at the kids

Lalor, Hotton, Faull, Armstrong, Sims, Alger, Fawcett...?
