Transport is a big issue for Brisbane in 2032.
This report is not a good sign regarding the Metro extensions.
Business case not expected to finish till June 2028
Then a bit on Redlands White Water Rafting

The first 5.5 minutes are on the Olympics

Building a city on the bend of a river will do that.

They should have started building years ago. Government (both parties) just learnt FAFO.

I really hope the IOC deem Rocky not up to Olympic standard.

How any Government (unless after votes) could choose Rocky over this proposal would be insane.
Even on the Crisafulli scale referring to Labors insane QSAC plan
In the 100-day review choosing Wyaralong Dam, Rocky was still a training venue needing upgrades, so that should still stay.

The Rocky Olympic costings fall somewhere between $300-$500 million in a LNP seat
Lawnton $150 million in a Labor held seat. With a company that have done this before at the Sydney Olympics.

The Invitation for Prequalification (IFP) for the National Aquatic Centre Delivery Contractor is open until 5pm AEST, Wednesday 25 February 2026. Successful companies from the IFP will then take part in the Invitation to Offer to secure one of two Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) roles.
Good signs the process for it is continuing alongside the stadium. BUilding it is the next step after designing it and early works on site.

According to the Australian Financial Review (AFR), CBA is expected to pay at least AUS$200 million (US$141.4 million), fending off competition from rival bank Westpac, who opted not to become embroiled in a bidding war.
Some more info in The Aus tonight (Jacquelin Magnay)
For the Brisbane 2032 Games organisers it’s a fillip for their overall $2bn sponsorship aims, an “ambitious” target given both the small marketplace of Australia and the limited number of internationally recognised Australian companies which could benefit from mass exposure at the Games. Brisbane 2032 chief executive Cindy Hook told the International Olympic Committee earlier this month there were “active contract negotiations in four major categories”, which represent 20 per cent of the commercial revenue target.
It’s understood the Commonwealth Bank, and other major Brisbane 2032 partners, will gain access to having the Olympic rings on their advertising, be able to use Australian athletes and, importantly for the executives signing on the bottom line, years of special access to Olympic trials and events, as well as prime tickets and hospitality access during the Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics.
...
The International Olympic Committee is also in the marketplace to replace the Japanese giants Toyota, Bridgestone and Panasonic in time for the LA 28 Olympics as well as Brisbane 2032 in their TOP (The Olympic Partners) program, currently worth more than $US3bn ($4.25bn).
For the Sydney Olympics in 2000, 93 sponsors raised $US492m for the organising committee. Paris 2024 had 70 sponsors raising $US1.34bn. With the operating budget for Brisbane 2032 being recalibrated in the coming months, having a healthy sponsorship line-up will be imperative.

Some concept drawings i have not seen before.

But the article is about worker shortage even though the government says things are fine. Also cost escalation estimates

Kinda seem like AI given how similar they are to the initial design renders. Haven't seen them anywhere else either
I'm not sure why you'd have concept drawings of construction progress either. At least if you're not building the Sagrada Familia anyway.

🤣 or have the greenery that developed early in construction

Is rumours around that the IOC in June is going to have a major internal meeting with the future of some olympic sports on the line

Some (indoor based) Summer sports will move to the Winter games (which could mean less athletes/venues/costs for Brisbane)

Example?
Iced badminton? Weightlifting?

Handball and fencing would fit well with the "give all the medals to Europe" Winter Olympics model. ;)

Badminton and the martial arts would be an interesting split, increase interest in areas that are generally completely unrepresented in the Winter Olympics.

What worked for Milano Cortina may not work for Brisbane 2032, but this is the new Olympic norm
Olympic Games executive director Christophe Dubi, who spoke exclusively with ABC Sport at the start of the Milano Cortina Games:
"Building a venue is not necessarily a problem, right? We don't say we shouldn't build a venue — we are in sport. Every time you build a sports venue, it's a good thing, right?
"But it has to be based on community needs. The community being high-level athletes or the community being you and I going to run out on the track any given Saturday. So that's the key point. It's usage."

"Dispersed" is a relative term. The distance from Milan to Cortina is about the same as the distance from Noosa to Coolangatta.

And three's no way they can talk about legacy and have the rowing be on the Fitzroy River.
