nah its definitely drunk but its not absolutely shitfaced. .05 is the limit and you barely even feel intoxicated at that stage, double that.
Yeah...maybe not falling over drunk. But I've had a big night at Crown back in the day and then blown into one of those alcholizers and blown 0.09. Let's put it this way...at .06 you might think you're OK to drive...at 0.108 you 100% know you are not.

Yeah you’re feeling it for sure but you have the faculties to know you shouldn’t drive. .09 isn’t even high range not sure how big that night was mate

There's 'over the limit' and then there's 0.108. That's pretty much blind drunk.
doubt it... you could drive in SA for many years with .08 until they put all states to the same. i get it tho that he would have known he was gunna be over if he got caught. he really should have known better and his mates need to pull their head in too...who knows if some of them drove home a bit pissed too.

was always up against it, this could 'Balta' his year, and a lot of hungry young blokes hitting their straps in '27, who know the number for 13cabs

hanging by a thread now IMO, should have a good chat to Balta actually, bout how to handle the next months, the ban is just the start

Le fau was never in my best team. Fawcett taller, back up ruck in the VFL.

Fawcett slightly better in the praccy match.

Richmond forward Mykelti Lefau will miss round 1 after being handed a club-imposed suspension and fine for drink driving.
Lefau will be suspended for both Friday’s practice match against Melbourne and the club’s season opener against Carlton.

He has also been fined $2500, which will be donated to charity, and undergo counselling.

Lefau blew .108 when stopped by police in Malvern East about 3am on Saturday morning and Richmond was not made aware of his actions until media enquiries came to the club on Monday morning.

Richmond CEO Shane Dunne confirmed the sanctions and said Lefau would address his teammates on Tuesday morning.

Lefau, who missed almost all of last year due to an ACL injury and calf issues, kicked three goals in the Tigers’ match simulation against Essendon on Friday.

Victoria Police confirmed a 27-year-old male was pulled over about 3am Saturday morning on Wattletree Rd, Malvern East.

Lefau is expected to receive an infringement notice for drink driving.

The bolded part shows even more that there should have been more serious punishment handed out.

Club needed to make a statement after other incidents involving players and alcohol. He got off very lightly.
Maybe the club decided, looking at Balta, that the real punishment is not having your head in the game for a lot longer than the ban. IMO he won't be selected to play for months.

But yeah, first Balta, now Lefau, RFC looking very soft on the upfront ban.

2 games is incredibly soft
Maybe a little lean but in the same breath he’s still going to cop his fine and probably loss of license, same as 99% of the population who’s employers couldn’t give two hoots if you are caught drink driving

lol @ same breath

Agree though, not sure why many think footballers need to display greater public mea culpa than the general population.
2 weeks feels a little light but sure the afl ticked it off so we move on.

Still really disappointed in Mykelti as he seemed of impeccable character....

Amen.
Spot on, Moose. The average worker doesn't lose one or two weeks wages for losing their job. And most employers would hope they'd keep their licence.
In fact, most employers accompany them to court as character witnesses seeking leniency so they can continue to drive.
Had a mate get done the other week ... .05 on the dot the following morning ... he'll pay the price with an interlock and course fees and be on .00 for the next to years, but he doesn't get disqualified from working.

Not condoning it, but an amazingly perpetuated misconception. You're not drunk at .05 and most wouldn't be drunk at .08 or 1 depending on how soon after you had your last beer, wine or Old Fashioned
While some (like my ex-girlfriend) would be rolling drunk at .01.

Ahhh well … at least this time the club will be spared a lecture from a certain J. Allan of Bendigo whose own hubby has form on these matters 👍
but he was on tablets !!

Got me stuffed how they prioritise a booze bus over teenagers running around with machetes and iced out teenagers rolling cars .
It’s so ****ed that it’s not safe to leave a vehicle in a public place anywhere in Victoria overnight .
Go out for a couple decide to have a couple more .
Sadly any risk assessment will find it’s safest to drive and risk getting pinged pinged by a RBT .

Does the club have rules about drinking in the pre season and season proper?

I would have thought getting on the piss with your mates was a no-no. Being professional athletes and all that.
