On this board, maybe. Was nowhere near it in reality.

I do say that as junior vice president of the Muz fan club. Great player, not AA material.

I wasn’t on this board at that time, but I remember he was all over those Fox Footy shows.

Being a good defender gets you in those discussions, not how good of an offence you have.

Its like saying the Coleman Medalist wouldn't get in because he doesn't tackle.

That's what should be the case, but in reality, you have to be an extraordinarily good defender to get in on defensive traits alone. It's the exception rather than the rule.

The same double standard doesn't get applied to forwards.

I like Butts and Murray as shut down defenders, but geez they would have to be the last blokes you want with ball in hand. Keene’s loss is HUGE. Someone like Cook has to really step up and become someone who sets up our play/bites off those hard 45/corridor kicks. I don’t trust Hinge anymore. Perhaps it’s Max who can add a real offensive side to his game.

Murray has a thumping kick but lacks finesse. Should go long and direct all the time. When he tries to be constructive through the corridor he causes catastrophic turnovers.

His defensive work is outstanding

Could be a good interceptor? The one part of his game that hasn't seemed to return / come on since his knee injuries. He showed some potential early

I dont mind the confidence Muz has to just full pace bulldoze literally anyone in his path rugby style. Did it one or 2 times in the port game and just backs himself to crush people.
And hell, if i saw nick murray running at me full speed with the ball in his hand i would be :poo: myself to.

Yeah, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t just be trying to hit one of the key forwards 50-60m away when he gets his hands on

From watch bit and pieces again. Berry is not best 23.. terrible by foot and the less Butts gets the ball the better. We dont want Butts marking the ball or getting the ball deep in defense or anywhere from CHB/FB. He is terrible by foot, he is worse than Hartigan was lol he will put us under that much pressure when he turns it over.

Bullshit, Butts is as safe as houses by foot, rarely misses a target, if your going to have a crack at him it's more that he usually goes the "safe" option. 2025 kicking efficiency 97.7% disposal efficiency 95.3%.

Yeah, this was more the point I was making re Butts. Don’t mind his safe kicks. But he’s not going to set us up/give us drive like Keane did.

How were Tex's tackle numbers in his AA year ??

When tackles are an offensive stat, then it'll matter.

When it comes to AA, the only thing that matters is what you do on offense. I'm sure you were shocked Talia was never short-listed. Remember the key defenders who are paid the big bucks are the guys who generate big numbers of intercepts and act as the first chain in the rebound game.

DT was twice AA actually

Even then, it doesn't. Generating turnovers is just too damn important to a teams success.

Midfield options are thinning out, so we need to trial different players against Fremantle. That means giving decent time to Taylor, Edwards & Pedlar.

Buggar about Peatling joining the hamstring awareness club.

B: Michaelanny, Butts, N Murray
HB: Nankervis, Worrell, Milera
C: Cook, Berry, Jones
HF: ANB, Fogarty, Keays
F: Pedlar, Thilthorpe, Walker
R: McAndrew, Dawson, Rachele
I: Laird, Taylor, Edwards, Draper, T Murray

I’d be shocked if Sid plays in WA.

Recently?

I would’ve thought the sanfl trial on Friday makes more sense.
Yes, that was the hope, but no guarantee obviously. Was in an interview a week or so back.

Club may get shy after all these injuries to bring him in before he is ready.

Ps. What 23 would you take over to WA?

Would you take Walker to Perth just for a trial game?
Id prefer to give bigger minutes to turray.

...or Marsh or Ludo for an early taste.

Good point about giving Tex a travel break.

Think Ludo & Marsh are too raw, but could give Maley a go with T Murray in the forward & ruck rotations.
