I think he's worth persisting with for at least the first 6 weeks or so. If he can just convert those easy misses we'd have another 20+ goal small forward.

Him along with JD and Curtis were huge with the amount of pressure they put on the opposition back 6 last season. He actually sticks tackles and chases.

Is his tank any good? Could he put his physicality to any kind of useful end as a defensive mid?
Mentioned that the other day ... is the one bloke on the list with the tenacity, and the work rate to be able to make a go of it.

Too small man, the best defensive mids have a bit of height and can cover the ground.

If you are sub 180cm (I'm looking at you WhilPhil) it's unlikely that you are going to have the right tools to compete against a wide variety of mids.
Would anyone else on the list have the desired mindset though? He's quicker than Phillips, with a better tank .... and probably a better tackler .... dunno.

Just for fun is like to see a set shot goal kicking competition between him and Fisher. Nobody on the mark or goal line. 35m out directly in front. Winner is the first to bag 10 goals.

Over two days.
So 100 kicks a day over two days should be able to get a result here. Might need extra time on day 2 if it goes down to the wire.

Can you imagine JK with the finishing skills around the sticks of LT, Boomer and Eddy Betts. He would be on $1M a season and would be lauded as the best recruit in the last 25 years.

I don't care if he can't get the ball in the back half, we have others who can distribute the ball. I just want him to be able to lock down and minimise the impact of oppo small forwards and half forwards.

Having Harvey back there along with Kerch, Daniel and Comben just shows me that we don't actually value one on one defending.
Do we value defending anywhere on the ground? :stern look

Lol very good

Has a KPI of 25 goals for the season, does the Kont, may as well make it 100.
Reckon he'll get that easily.

Only because he's allowed to include the ones he kicks at training.

And maybe even pot a goal now and again.
He tries.

That's the argument for him.

This is the sort of argument you mount to give a kid credit in Under 10's so that they're not discouraged.

Not sure if he's a bigger wage thief or Brady is.

He will be in the round 1 team.
****. What a time to be a North Melbourne fan - still an embarrassment and still the pleasure of watching a bloke who can't kick goals or find the football picked every week.

His career highlight remains over celebrating a goal while 15 goals down and then mid-celebration realising how stupid he looks.

Kayne actually covered ground to iron blokes out.
He does too. He is one of about three players on the list who works hard enough in defense to apply enough pressure to cause turnovers. Given how shithouse we are when the opposition have the ball he is noticeable.

His efforts alone are worth two or three goals a game in lower opposition scores. He's a very limited player but at least he does the right thing on field. Until more talented players apply the same amount of on field effort we need players like him.

He's a trier and has all of the determination you want to see, so it's hard to be critical of him, but he's not really good enough. Sydney wouldn't have let him go if they thought there was a player there. And let him go for virtually nothing.
