With T Murray seemingly a chance for round 1, they might have already made this decision.

Certainly possible, and I guess there is no difference having a bench spot play 40-45 TOG and a sub.

And just as I predicted the AFL coaches have already gone to work on the new ruck rules and are already coming up with workarounds aplenty.

Well, I mean, that's just predicting that water is wet.

There is a belief, some Rucks will use the tactic of not actually leaping at the bounce ....this is an example

So a free against SDK for crossing the middle but not "engaging" with his opponent?

If you grab the ball put of the middle, run through the centre circle and don't touch the oppo ruck, is it a free against because you crossed the line without "engaging"?

What’s the workarounds?
Watch Jeff White's youtube video, he highlighted exactly what would happen thar rucks wouldn't engage and viola the umpire paid a free which the AFL said was wrong...took only 1 week for a ruck to exploit the rule.

He literally gave away a free kick not doing it

I don't know what the umpire was thinking. It's literally like he had it in his mind that the tactic was unfair and the jumper had to be rewarded. It was a pathetic decision and the Geelong ruck jumped way over the line first. Like what the hell

Cant expect to have to wear a knee. I'm happy with what pittonet did because that's smart. Sdk was outright trying to jump into him that's why he jumped early. Pittonet avoided contact. The AFL just didn't want blocking. They didn't say you had to jump into each other.

This whole knee injury carry-on is typical hysteria with new rules .....people love to be the spreaders of doom & gloom

Rucking is an art ....an underrated art ...you throw any bozo into that contest, odds are he'll get hurt

So a FWD filling in as a Ruck ....yeah, chance are he'll get hurt ....so a message to Coaches ... "don't do it" ,it's all in your hands

Gawn said it.

Also it's not an art to jump into each other. It's who has the highest jump wins. Sdk proved he was out to hurt his opponent jumped early. Only do that if you have every intention to jump into your opponent.

Can’t see ANB being on 800k, he wanted to come back unlike poaching cumming.

$800k for a role player would be insane, there’s no way he’s on that coin. And you’d think Laird would have been heavily front loaded. He’s been contracted throughout our crap period where we would have needed to frontload a lot to meet the 95% minimum.

Yeah but the pick we offered to them form ah chee was worthless to them som43 was just a worthless pick thrown away at a ruck

Different years, they didn’t have list spot available to use 43 last year. They could have taken it and traded it for a future pick though, but that then diminishes its value, so maybe got to the ‘stuff it’ point.

Looks like the reigning premiers used pick 43 on a ruck …..
Let them waste resources…

Clueless, idiots do not know what they’re doing.

Have I got some good news for you 3!

You can now stop complaining about our lack of ruck stocks! We also invested in the ruck position, very recently in fact!!!!

Archie Ludowyke - 197cm - Pick 53! Had more hitouts as a junior than Zane!

Look at us spending resources at the position - just like the premiers.

So you're saying that this ruckman

is the same is this ruckman?

You're starting to embarrass yourself now.

Thats exactly the comparison I am making.

This time last year 196cm Zane was listed as a Defender on the Lions website (his 2nd year on the list). He played his first two seasons as a defender and on the wing.

Archie is 197cm and has as much chance of becoming a ruckman as Zane.

Once again - for the record - I dont think Zane is a ruckman. He is a defender who can chop out in the ruck. Similar to Tex.
